kung di nag increase ang electrical load mo, baka kailangan lang palitan ang regulator IC. dun ako pumunta sa "aunzo" sa banawe, medyo na-low-tech-an ako sa modus nila (e.g. walang digital multimeter, bulb-and-battery ang pang continuity and diode testing nila).
anyway mga 6500 daw ang refurb alternator. walang bago. sa ibang shops sa banawe merong bago (e.g. sa autorama meron sila for mazda pero 18k yata). inayos nila yung regulator ko pero turns out underpowered talaga alternator ko (makes me wonder paano siya tumagal sa previous owner..) so pinalitan nila ng isang grubby surplus alternator na 1500 -- mahal na yun pero napasubo na 'ko kasi di ako maka-alis without an alternator. ayun ok pa naman mga 6 months+ na.
dinagdagan ko din ng extra grounding cables yung car ko kasi even with the uprated alternator, medyo humihina pa rin yung mga interior lights pag nag high beam. ngayon ok na..

May 8th, 2005 02:57 PM #24Guys, patulong naman. Had my car checked sa Wizzards and was advised that I need to replace my Alternator coz the rotor is already shorted. Undercharge raw ang battery when the car is idle and when headlights are ON however ok naman ang charging pag tumakbo na. Wizzards is charging me for P3800 for the surplus alternator alone plus labor. Do you think may problem na ba talaga ang alternator? if so, where can you recommend a good surplus shop. Went to banaue pero wala akong makitang same type na alternator. The shops are saying that my alternator is local while what they have are japan surplus. Iba kasi ang connectors. Mine has 3 wires while what they are selling has 4. By the way, may car is a civic 96 vti. Patulong naman guys, di ko kasi magamit yung car. Thanks in advance

Wizzards holds good reputation for their services, you might also want to try Tower of David outlets and have them check it for free. They remanufacture old toasted alternators and change new internal parts.

from my experience, i won't recommend tower of david. sorry. i hate their conversions! the alternator of my esi broke down before. they installed an alternator from a toyota vehicle, after the installation and conversions sa mounting, ok ang charging but it messed up the idle up function. i found out later that there's another wire that is supposed to be connected to the ecu for the idle up which their alternator did not have.
Blacklance,
try to get your alternator from those who have had their engine swapped. also some tuners have them (h3, adoworks, etc.) got mine before for only 2.5k. while tower of david charged me 4k for a reconditioned piece of junk.
