October 29th, 2010 06:51 PM #71Sure, China is big, wealthy and powerful. But is that all that they can do. It took Korea only a short while to reach their current status wherein they are now making their own designs and manufacturing their own engines and transmissions, and it is worth noting that at the time they started, they didn't have much cash. Now, compare China to the country they are picking on- Taiwan. They are a dimunitive country, with financial capabilities much less than Japan, China and Korea. Look at their Luxgen 7 MPV. Collaboration with Germany produced an excellent car with a 2.2 liter turbocharged gasoline engine, good styling made by their very own, iDrive like driving interface... What can you say?

It's a misconception that the china cars main competitors are the japanese and korean cars. They are actually competing against each other in the same target market which is the more affordable cars.

Sir I beg to differ, most of the bus company owners I've talked to have complained consistently about the frequency and high cost of maintenance of their chinese units. Most of the time they complain about consumable parts like clutch and brake linings. Running cost is definitely much higher than their japanese counterparts and will definitely overtake any savings made on the purchase price.

China car makers bought used body panel stamping machines from foreign car makers
that's why they ended up with cars that look like cars made by foreign car makers
it's a learning process. first they learn how to make cars by copying, then later on they come up with original designs
buti pa China kesa Pinas. nasaan na ang yung overhyped na pinoy car?
China can mass produce automobiles
eh ang Pinas?
