Anyway, this is getting way off-topic. We are talking about the Colorado and Trailblazer which was sold in the Asia-Pacific region for 8-long years and for a time was GM's best seller.
Remember a lot of the spare parts have already been manufactured during the run of the vehicle (this applies pretty much for any mass-produced vehicle), production of spare parts by suppliers usually continue beyond the car's run but in smaller batches.
This is also the reason why my brother can still buy OEM GM parts for his Optra which sold in much lower numbers.

March 20th, 2020 10:26 AM #247Are the China made Chevrolets possibly sharing any major parts with the ASEAN made Chevrolets from Thailand?
I just know their China made Trailblazer is a CUV and not a Ladder Frame SUV if I'm not mistaken (and no diesel).
If it does come from China, is the China Trade Agreement giving better/worse perks than Thailand Trade Agreement?
EDIT: I also know there is current talk of Thailand's unfair Trade practices with Philippines so they might impose higher taxes in the "near future" to penalize Thailand. This is still not finalized as I think there is also an issue if Philippines does this as Thailand may protest (or it is against some international trade rule)

March 20th, 2020 11:42 AM #248Nope. because they only produces unibody vehicles unlike the Trailblazer/Colorado built in Thailand. Unless GM moves the Thailand assembly/tooling to SAIC-GM plant in china to produce the Colorado and the body on frame Trailblazer.
Unfair pala si thailand mag trade sa atin? Pinataas ang tax exports nila?

March 20th, 2020 11:51 AM #249I can't quite remember about what specific item from Thailand (i think cigarettes or liquor ata). And dahil duon natatalo local industry natin since may tax exemption status sila due to the trade agreement. Kaya gusto gumanti ng Philippines by adding taxes (or removing exemptions) to vehicles from Thailand (specifically pickup and SUV class I think)
If China made models are non pickup/non SUV, then TCCCI might just shift the whole product line (maybe?) For parts, can the Trailblazer use some isuzu parts or is it strictly chassis/frame that it shared with the DMAX? But it is a completely uphill battle for the brand of Chevrolet as a whole as they are unable to release a compelling product for the mass market in multiple markets. Honestly don't know whether shifting to China made models will help as Volkswagen PH hasn't gained traction with that approach.
EDIT: Found it. Cigarettes sigurado.
