^it's chicken and egg... madaming parts if madaming cars sa road.
easy to say may parts sa Banawe... Paano yung taga province?
I remember my younger days, normally oil filter lang and brake pad kailangan mo sa car
yung brake pads may local
so Oil Filter na lang talaga kailangan mo which is mostly generic.
Pero yung times na may ibang masira, mahirap maghanap ng parts. Kahit yung Box Type ko nung 90's, may parts na kailangan mo magtanong tanong sa Banawe kasi hindi common yung part na nasira.
Same with Chevy... Kahit available yung parts online, kung 2 weeks naman delivery... willing ka bang naka-park lang sa garage mo yung 1.9M Trailblazaer mo?
*1M (50% off) masakit pa din kung 2 months mong di magamit...

March 5th, 2020 03:13 PM #222Parts sourcing and maintaining is a problem, reliability is another. Regular Flips would rather gamble on tested and reliable brands than gamble on endless money-pits. This plant closures gives no confidence to consumers that even if you give me for free a B'New unit, i won't accept it.
The only bowtie I'd consider is the Suburban which fits as a hearse in the Funeral Parlor biz

It may affect sales specially for those who think a car manufacturers build parts in-house for dozens of generations for infinite number of years.
From what they announced (so current Colorado & Trailblazer owners don't panic), GM's "After-sales and Customer Care" in Thailand will remain to take care of the flow of spare parts in the region.
How is that possible if the GM plant will close? Many car parts/components are made by independent parts suppliers who also supply to several different brands.Last edited by AG4; March 5th, 2020 at 05:53 PM.

Ok, my cousin just bought a Trailblazer and this conversation is a very sensitive topic right now.
Here's my thing about local Chevys...
Chevy Thailand sold their cars earlier with big discounts. Chevy PH didn't do anything.
So technically, every Chevy sold at the dealership right now is overpriced

March 5th, 2020 10:05 PM #228Since Chevy won't be selling new Trailblazers anymore, the number on the road will be a fixed, static number -- not a good incentive for OEM parts manufacturer to keep churning out parts for a "dead", dwindling market. Why even bother unless they're niche manufacturers. Sooner than later, parts will dry up.

March 5th, 2020 10:35 PM #229my fearless forecast is,
it's going to be a vicious, chicken or egg cycle.
chevy owners will gradually sell off their orphaned cars, because parts will get more difficult to source.
parts providers won't stock up on chevy parts, because there will be fewer and fewer chevys on the road requiring them.
