Chevrolet Orlando Concept
At a special event this evening, Chevrolet revealed the highlights of its line-up for the Paris Motor Show which included the Chevrolet Orlando Concept car, a vehicle that previews the all new MPV vehicle General Motors currently has under development for full production.
Power comes from Chevrolet's latest-generation, 2.0-liter turbo diesel which generates 150hp (110kW) and 320Nm of torque. This engine is hardly going to give drivers the most excited ride in the world, but it is sure to get occupants from A to B with some damn low fuel economy figures.
The Orlando Concept could easily be mistaken for an SUV due to its aggressive and powerful front end styling. It rides on the Chevrolet Cruze platform albeit heavily modified to support a 2760mm wheelbase that is 75mm longer than its sibling. The extra distance between the wheels provides more than enough space to create a large cabin suitable for three rows of seats and seven occupants.
"We focused on giving Orlando a strong, robust appearance," says Designer Seungwoo Kim. "It draws on Chevrolet's tradition for honest, simple design, while at the same time extending our new design language into the compact multi-purpose vehicle segment."
Full production of the Orlando shouldn't be far round the corner, expect the unveiling within the next 12 months before going into production as a 2010 model.
