Hi Sir ChevyChaser,
This will be noted. Once it needs to be replaced, ill look for pads you mentioned. And may kamahalan din naman sa casa nung nagpapalit ako.
Thanks!

September 27th, 2010 12:40 PM #472That trade in value is already upgraded? IMO, I don't think the price of Optras are improving. It's hard to sell Optras talagang binabarat.
Imagine your dealership quoted 150k for our 2003 M/T with 60k mileage. Then now you quoted my 2005 A/T 1.8LT for 250k. That's after quoting me P60,000 for repairs. Mileage is around 45,000 palang pero so many things are being recommended to be changed.
Timing belt, water pump, idler, drivebelt, tensioner, rack and pinion. Was quoted 61,000 for that. Wow. And we just had the valve cover gasket replaced last service now Chevy Pasig is quoting me again that it needs to be replaced.
We won't buy another Chevrolet car again. Hopefully Cruze owners won't experience the same thing.

October 1st, 2010 04:27 AM #474nakakainggit na there are some who managed to squeeze more fuel efficiency out of their optras.. ako siguro suko na.. i own a '09 A/T and i've tried everything even the reprogramming thing, done by chev q-ave, where i got my unit, and they insist that nothing is wrong w/ my car.. wala pa ding nangyari.. i was hoping fc would be better after the first 10k pms, now i'm already over 13k but i'm still getting 6.7km/l.. i work during the night, 15 mins to and from the office, not much traffic.. pag umaalis naman ang family, usually slex ang daan going south, la din halos traffic.. para na din akong may itlog sa gitna ng paa and ng pedal, not going over 2000rpm.. and the only time my speed reaches the 100kph mark and usually not that much over is when on the highway.. i think i messed up when i decided to get the car.. handling and ride, wala akong reklamo, quite good actually, but it's not that much of a wow factor for me to just ignore the ridiculous fc.. i guess bentang palugi na ang mangyayari kesa patagalin ko kalbaryo.. and i've known more people w/ the same issues than those getting good fc.. something to think about before getting one of these.. i wonder how the Cruze is sa fc? even though that car i think has the wow factor, it better be really really good for me to even consider a chev again..

15 minutes is a very short drive. Don't expect good fuel economy from a commute like that.
If you really want to know what the car is capable of, do a micro-eco run. If you live south, you can do one from Shell southbound on the SLEX, turn around at Cabuyao exit (avoid the traffic at Calamba exit) then turn around again at Susana Heights (a little traffic, but it's not bad) and fill up again at Shell. You should get around 14-16 km/l if the car is in good condition.

Parang hindi inaalagaan nung new owner. May scratches nanaman sa front bumper

October 10th, 2010 01:37 PM #479how do i check the source of my car's overheat problem, its a chevy optra... here: the temperature rises up to almost 3/4 or even higher of the temp gauge... even with a bit short distances. it is gulping water every trip. it just happened a couple of days ago, both fans (auxiliary and radiator) working, replaced the auxiliary fan lately, and the thermostat... there is extreme steam pressure in the upper radiator, its hotter than the other hose, based from my touch, (this is where the thermostat is located), a day ago, there was steam coming out of the radiator reserve cap, replaced the cap now its ok, when i replaced the aux fan yesterday i removed and returned the upper rad hose connecting to the radiator, and clamped it, perhaps the clamp is not sealed enough as of today i can feel the steam pressure escaping from the hose that is connected to the radiator, might come back to the mechanic who put them yesteday to tighten the clamp... but i am not sure if that solves it, because there is still the overheat problem to think of,. how do i solve it...
the rad months ago was replaced along with the aux fan and thermostat not more than 3 months ago, with chevy service center, if it continues heating the engine it might destroy the engine so i wanna pinpoint the problem.. and diagnose it correctly, i dont like the idea of replacing everything, just to make it work... if one can diagnose where is the source, well be answering the problem right on..

December 15th, 2010 10:04 PM #480I owned a 2004 Optra 1.6L which i bought brand new from the casa in 2004. The chevy dealers have a promo up to Dec 31, 2010 for replacing the timing belt and tensioner for only P5.500+. My question is, would you have it changed considering that it has only runned for 30200km?. PLEASE ADVISE, Tsikoteers. thanks
