December 28th, 2009 04:20 PM #453Just an observation, mine is 06model matic. What on "D" and at full stop, I noticed that the rev is always slightly higher than the 1000rpm level. But when you shift to "N" the rev drops to around 800rpm. ("D" at full stop of course means you are stepping on the brake.)
On slow speed and on "D", when you release the gas pedal still the rev goes to the 1000up rpm level.
In comparison with my other matic same year '06 but different make, on slow speed the rev ALWAYS drops to the 800rpm level when you release the gas pedal. Again, when on "D" and at full stop. The rpm remains at 800.
Just maybe, this might be one big culprit to the optra's higher fuel consumption.

December 31st, 2009 10:02 AM #454First I want to say that I don't own Optra car. I will only make comment to the post above.
Kung above 1K rpm at "D" with brake on eh talagang tataas talaga ang gas consumption nyan.Yes the 800 or so rpm should be the normal revs when the car is at stop with brake on or in neutral. The only difference is that in neutral you can hear the engine is giving out less effort than that on "D" with brake. Kaya nga mas mataas ang consumo pag brake ka lang palagi sa long traffic stop than mostly in "N" in the same situation.
Yes I believe that is one reason why the FC is quite high.
Reprogramming the ecu for economy setting will fix the FC problem.

January 8th, 2010 10:18 PM #455Just found this post dated 2-24-2006......
Question: Do we really need to tweak the ECU to get a lower idling? Baka naman kasi all it will take is just a slight twist of a screw sa gas pedal mechanism (or whatever you call it).
Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to reply.

August 4th, 2010 09:46 PM #458nagliligpit ako sa bodega over the weekend and nakita ko yung original lip spoiler and side skirts ng 2006 optra ko na binaklas ko before i returned the car to the company, baka may interested to buy. I think in 2006 magpalagay nun sa Optra dealership is around P28K. The color is yung very common na medyo Gold. For the price bahala na kayo to quote wag lang "law baller" masyado, then nego na lang siguro. Kung okay na kagad your quote then close kagad ang deal. Just send me PM.
Thanks.
