tumpak! konting tweak(configuration) sa system para mag fit sa requirement ng company. minsan naman yun company processes ang itinatama para mag fit sa SAP...yun SAP processes kasi based on Best Business practices.

ah, so parang business practices na un ng ibang company tapos ginamit ng SAP para makagawa ng isang magandang system na pwede gamitin ng ibang company. so ang SAP talaga e ung mismong system, hindi ung programming language. requirements lang siya para ma tweak mo ung system.......

kung baga parang isang PoS system tapos i t-tweak na lang ng programmer kung nagkaroon ng bagong requirements.....

kala ko nung una programming language siya na pwede ka gumawa ng isang system from scratch.

flakez: ABAP ang programming language ng SAP so everything in SAP runs in ABAP...pero meron na ding Java components ang ABAP/SAP sa mga latest SAP release/versions...as i said, there's actually a MiniSAP which you can use for learning/playing around...as for certification, marketing tool din yan for a certified SAP professional to get better pay (but sorry to say na hindi naman lahat ng mga certified eh talagang super galeng, i know some but it's another topic)...as for pay, i don't know if it really pays well, parang hindi ko ramdam eh

*dt, thanks. may alam ako sa java so mukhang ok to since sabi mo may mga java na rin sa SAP. ano nga pala ung mga books na pwede mong irerecommend? ano ung miniSAP? parang maliit na na fully functional system ng SAP na pwede pang bahay? saka san din pwede makabili or pwede ba download na lang sa net? hehehe

as for the salary, wala pa naman sa isip ko yan. hehe. basta gusto lang talaga matuto.

nasa SAP knowledge shop ang mga books, you can shop online...ang daming tungkol sa ABAP dyan...since may java knowledge ka na, i can recommend the book ABAP Objects...covered na dyan ang fundamentals sa ABAP programming plus may OOP na din...included na din ang MiniSAP CDs dyan which you can install in your desk/laptop...MiniSAP is not a fully functional SAP system (kaya nga mini hehe)...i wouldn't think SAP is crazy enough to give away their system out-of-the-box fully operational

as for the java functionality... ginagamit yan to produce the front-end for the newer releases of SAP using NetWeaver I believe.

DT> yup... di lahat ng certified ay magaling - actually, a lot of good consultants are not even certified. I've heard of persons with zero SAP knowledge who took the certification course & passed the exam with flying colors. problem is that when they are applying for work - tinitira rin sila sa experience.

yung 30K na salary - starting lang dapat yan. the sky is the limit actually... ;)

based on my friends, minimum salary is P50k and abroad $6k.

hmmm. be careful with generalizations on sap consultants. the higher end of the salary range really only applies to those who have fairly deep experience in the system. knowledge of abap without knowledge of sap processes or the system tables is pretty useless. it is extremely difficult to support a sap implementation if you don't know where to find data and you don't understand how the core modules like FI, CO, MM, SD, PP etc. work. that is why most companies require several years of full cycle implementation experience before they even consider an applicant for interview.

some companies though are willing to hire some ABAP newbies with some skill in other tools as junior programmers and then train them. but of course your salary will be much less than the market rates.

lastly, be careful with training in proprietary products. what happens if SAP goes under or another better ERP comes along? consider before you invest in SAP training.

for sap consutants, here's a good site where you can download lots of documentations regarding SAP(except Industry Specific Solution) - www.sapsuperusers.com you need to register to be able to download documents from the site.

Yep this is important specially with a cash outlay that big.

SAP was actually offered to my client and it was very expensive kaya sabi ng accountant nila ako na lang ang gagawa ng IS.
