Agree here. Easier said than done. This is a touchy situation.
Both the company and the employees are in survival mode, especially now, when the demands for most products and services are low. Forced leave or some call it company leave should be executed within a reasonable period of time, say 1 week or two to save on salary and/or utility costs (while probably, there's ongoing maintenance of company facilities et al). Else, the company should pay separation.

Agree with both of you bros. fourtheboys96 and BoyL3, sadly, security of tenure is now a thing of the past. So, we should treat each day as our last day at work....

Apparently, legal ang forced leave but only if with valid reason, limited time and applied with due process. It's a legitimate exercise of management prerogative.

medyo hard core naman to although i understand where this is coming from... especially sa tao o worker na lone breadwinner sa family, 5 anak... yng asawa ay wala ding trabaho... lahat ng pangangailangan talagang naka asa sa kumpanya.... maaari ganito talaga ang pananaw... survival mode ikaw nga... so bawat sentimo na benepisyo, kwentado.... pero ang employer.. survival mode din right now.... sa lakas ng competition... smuggling... piracy... nag invest siya ng pera nya in a business... natural may risk... natural lang na gustuhin nya ma maximize profit...
for me i think this should be the right attitude... yng 10 years na paninilbihan.. may sweldo naman siya.. malamang nakaka cash advance pa kung may mahigpit na pangangailangan... tapos palalabasin na walang utang na loob?? kung legal ang pag uusapan... employer employee relationship is a contract... employee works for compensation... employer derives profit from the work of the employee so compensate nya dapat yung employee.... therefore strictly speaking hindi pinag uusapan ang utang na loob dito.... unless may mga deficiencies ang employer sa employee like mandated benefits.... pero... look on the other side... di ba minsan employee may pagkukulang din sa employer? pag gamit ng friendster habang nasa trabaho? pag login sa tsikot kahit hindi part ng job description? pag petiks petiks sa trabaho? pag uwi ng office supplies? etc...
anyway.. industrial relations really is a huge topic kung kwntuhan din lang ang pag uusapan...

I think it's illegal kasi tied pa rin yung employee sayo tapos di mo binabayaran.
Kung inefficient or below-standard performer, the best is to fire the person and pay separation (or whatever those payments are called). This of course, is after some negotiation or work-outs on how to make the employee perform better. Kung wala pa rin, it's parting time.
I've met a lot of people who didn't want to help themselves either. People who just go to work to wait for the 5pm (or dismissal time).
Di rin natin masisi yung company kasi nga naman, you hire people to work for you. If they are not working as they should, your projections will not be met - which is bad for business (and the whole organization because it will crumble when it tanks - lahat ng tao, even those who are doing their jobs properly will suffer).
It's just work, don't take it personally. Ika nga: trabaho lang, walang personalan. This is under assumption that everything is fair for both parties. Pag may injustice, fight for your rights (or go the easier route: quit and be self-employed).

but the big question is, IN THE MIDST OF FREEZE HIRING, ARE YOU WILLING TO LET GO OF YOUR JOB?
how many companies are hiring nowadays?
... and many are dead drunk at home... heh heh.
