January 11th, 2018 02:01 PM #333I'm in a similar boat right now...
- Roughly 15% monthly income is regular monthly expenses (kasama rent ng condo in Tagaytay)
- 20% goes to paying 2 property loans (1 a preselling condo and another plot of land) and small VUL
- Another 15-20% extra for other expenses, mostly napupunta sa travels... we spent a total of 4 months away from the country last year
- the rest (about half) are squirreled away in various financial instruments
Dalawa lang kami and I'd like to think we live frugally compared to what we earn...
We currently don't have a vehicle (used to own 2 a couple of years back) even though we can afford it, due to a change in lifestyle and for the simple reason na hindi namin kailangan hehe we opted to buy properties instead...
EDIT: We're able to achieve this mainly due to the fact that we took the time to identify WANTS vs. NEEDS.
Since we did that, there were no more impulsive buying of anything... although we did put Travel as a NEED haha with limits of course.

anything you buy that you can sell for higher is good
even if it takes time to sell
basta the profit is far bigger than what your capital would have earned if you just left it in the bank

But to share, typical monthly savings after take home minus expenses are approx 35 percent.
I think I need to cut the fastfoods na lang. Parking as well takes a sizable chunk out of it.

it's paper gains and paper losses
you don't win or lose until you cash out

Don't know much about stocks so I don't invest there. I did know enough to stay away from Calata Corp. if ever when they first came out.
Just store it properly since it is flammable.
