My friend and I agreed that we will save the extra cash from TRAIN. I'm not sure I can do that though

After a month of vacation, it feels good to be back at work meeting all these simple businessmen. They have millions worth of capital yet dress and live simply.
Serves as a good reminder that we can be content with much less. Corporate Manila can really get you caught up in a culture of consumerism.

I want to target not buying any clothes or shoes for the whole year. My problem is our labandera has hands made out of steel brush. My clothes are either faded or full of small holes after several washes
It's easy for me to not buy shoes for a year as long as none of my current need to be replaced.
I will only drink water in restaurants. Mainly for health reasons, secondary for savings. I used to do this but my office BFF likes to order drinks so I would be tempted to do the same

January 10th, 2018 11:24 AM #207My tips to save money is based on changing some frequent habits.
1. If you are going out, eat and fill up at home, and if possible, bring food as you go. We normally spend 130 pesos worth of food when we are at home 24hours, and spend 500 or more when we go out (spend 24hours outside). Not convinced? Do your math.
2. Cut on junk foods - sugar bevs and chips. They're expensive and can bad for you too. Think water, on your personal bottle and tuna sandwich for snacks.
3. clean up your closet. Get rid of things you dont need, sell them than letting them rot on your drawers. You will also realize how much clothes and things you still have and it would be easier to convince yourself not to buy new stuffs you dont actually need. It feels good to see things you can still use or repair.
4. On phones: if its still working, dont buy a new model. These days phones dont usually get others attention that much as compared to the Nokia era where you can easily spot who's bannering a brand new 8950 titanium housing or 7650 colored screens. Its simple as Call + Text + Data. As long as your phone is ok on those 3 areas, then you need not to get a new phone to stay relevant.

January 10th, 2018 12:12 PM #209Per person po yan. Provided you cook it yourself, excluding cost of gasul or preparations. This being taken out on the context that we also spend on gasul, spices, cooking oil, electricity and water separately.
130 estimate budget can get you:
Breakfast: 2 eggs - 12pesos, 5 pandesal for 10pesos, coffee mix 7pesos = 22pesos
Lunch: 1 medium or 1/4kg Tilapia - 25pesos, 200gms rice 10pesos = 35pesos
Snack: 2pcs Pancit canton or 2 ripe bananas - 26pesos = 26pesos
Dinner: 1 can corned beef - 35pesos, 200gms rice 10pesos = 45pesos
Total = 128pesos
Pwede pa sa Halls o Max yung 2pesos. hehehe
But then again estimate lang naman po. In my calculations it can be done.
500 or more sa labas, lets see:
Breakfast: Jollijeep - Arozcaldo 35, bottled water 15 = 50
Lunch: Mang Inasal PM2 with No soda = 126
Snack: Angel's CheeseBurger, bottled water = 50
Dinner: KFC Super meal = 150
Total = 376
So we can say 500 is a bit bloated pa nga, and we can trim it even to less than 400.

January 10th, 2018 12:16 PM #210You really don't need the math for #1. Ultimong mga inumin, that's around 20 pesos and upwards vs. magdala ka ng water bottle. 100 pesos can barely fill you up at Jollibee vs. eating at home.
Just store it properly since it is flammable.
