I am not saying merong bank run in fact wala pero just wanted to say na maskin may PDIC pa yan its not so great because it will take many many months if not even a year before you get your money from PDIC because susubukan pa nila i-liquidate ang assets ng bangko to raise the money to pay the depositors.

Ahhh.... the word "speculation", ironic that it starts out with just a "spec"...
a lot of the current mess around the globe is brought about by this word... seems that the proper equation should be...
speculation + greed = crisis
i wonder what happens when those who benefit from this equation will be the ones haunted by it...Last edited by slamtaz; September 23rd, 2008 at 01:55 PM.

PHILIPPINES' METROBANK FILES PETITIONS FOR REHAB OF LEHMAN UNITS
MANILA, Sep 23, 2008 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) -- TCNYF | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating -- Metropolitan Bank and Trust Company (Metrobank), the country's largest bank in terms of assets, on Monday said it has filed a petition for rehabilitation against two subsidiaries of bankrupt US investment bank Lehman Brothers. In a statement, Metrobank said the petitions were filed before the Makati Regional Trial Court (RTC) for Philippine Investment One, Inc. and Philippine Investment Two, Inc.
This creditor-led rehabilitation is a pre-emptive move to protect the Bank against possible dissipation of assets by foreign claimants, Metrobank executive vice president Vicente Cuna said.
Last week, Metrobank disclosed that it has about P2.4 billion (US$56.1 million) loan exposure to a Lehman subsidiary in the country.
Metrobank is just one of the few banks in the country who have disclosed their exposure to the said investment bank along with Banco de Oro Unibank (BDO) and Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC).
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said the local banking industry's exposure to Lehman Brothers is limited.Last edited by uls; September 23rd, 2008 at 02:20 PM.
