ironic how they call most professionals tax evaders, when in reality the tax we all pay (right and undeclared) evades us and goes into somebody eles pockets.. kaya minsan hindi mo din masisi na di magbayad ng tama yung iba

And the BIR RD... oh golly they got paid big amounts of money as "Areglo."
VERY MUCH TRUE.

I think that instead of besmirching the reputations of professional by implying they are tax cheats, the BIR should work on the tax structure. Sure, an employee-teacher definitely pays more taxes than a practicing professional - not because the professional cheated but because that is the nature of the tax law

An employee's tax computation is based on GROSS salary (receipt) less personal and additional exemptions. A practicing professional's income tax is computed based on GROSS receipts less personal and additional exemptions LESS itemized expenses or the optional standard deduction ( 40% of gross receipt). Granting both employee and practicing professional receive the same amount every month, the mere status of the taxpayer (employee vs registered professional) would make the professional pay lesser tax even without cheating.

A lot of uncollected income taxes come from the "underground economy" like tiangge operators, single proprietors of jeeps, taxis, FX, UV Express, sidewalk vendors. The BIR could possibly raise as much as Php 1Billion in taxes in a year from this sector if they really put their mettle to it.
bang for buck yan.. mas efficient mag bantay ng malalaki ma kolekta.. rather than sa marami pero konti lang each ang makolekta..

ako.. ang tingin ko.. okay ang scare tactics nila.. kung sabayan nila ng education campaign... how to compute the right taxes... para walang room na mangotong ang insider ng BIR... para ma encourage yung taxpayer na magbayad ng tama... pero kung after teaching taxpayer how to cmpute.. tapos hihirit pa BIR ng dagdag dahil sa may hindi naisama sa computation.. then di talaga ma encourage yung taxpayer na magbayad / mag compute ng maayos...

part nito yung simplifiying the tax structure...

taxi, jeepney and fx operators have to file a yearly financial report to the ltfrb, and the tax is computed from that annual financial report. paano ka makakadaya e alam naman ng ltfrb magkano ang boundary, less expenses which require receipts. may taxis and fx dati erpats ko kaya alam ko.

and for those driver/operators, syempre ang reported income is also based on the boundary amountonly. bakit naman nya ire-report pati yung sobra sa boundary e yun ang "salary" nya as driver. syempre kita lang ng operator ang reported.
