It holds the oil. That's it.

Malinaw naman ang definition ng engine terms. The pressurized portions of the engine are the cylinder block and cylinder head. This is a very tall oil pan, but at the end of the day it's still just an oil pan. It can be redesigned to be much shallower if Toyota were so inclined.

Pag tinamaan oil pan and nagkabutas, pareho din naman ang result whether it's this style or the more traditional style na parang batya lang: loss of oil and destroyed engine if you don't notice it soon enough.

I agree mahal sya na oil pan para sa economy car. Ka-presyo ng oil pan ng Evo VII-IX.

Price wars pa din yan i think. Cheaper pa din entry level vios and even the XE than raize considering the bigger engine and seating capacity ng vios. Madami pa din bibili ng vios.

The raize is slowly growing on me. Especially thr dark gray one. Hehe. Ayaw ko lang tumingin sa casa. Ayaw ko mag commit.

Regarding oilpan: totoo yan. May nakasabay kami dati to baler tumirik. Tinamaan pala ng bato ang oil pan. Had to source surplus engine from pampanga.

Sometimes Toyota engineers don't get it right. That's way to expenseinve for a very exposed part. Dapat mas matibay or repairable or cheap to replace.

Mukhang aluminum alloy kasi eh. unlike most oil pan na HD which is steel.
