There were other entries in the field. And no, there was no "new Navara" available for the competition. None of the majors released a mechanical upgrade for their pick-ups within the last year. The countless "facelifts" no longer count towards eligibility.
I'd actually prefer it if even "old" models are allowed in the competition... even if they don't get upgraded, some vehicles still deserve kudos for being top of the class... but as it is, we already had 52 entries... and since PCOTY is non-stock, non-profit, testing all of these cars had a big hit on all our wallets... those of us who took time to participate in the judging, testing and logistics of the operation... imagine if all of the hundreds of cars available for sale were tested?
Thus... only all-new and significantly upgraded models were included.
