the only reason why thick ballasts are thick is because the ignitor is housed together with the main body of the ballasts. Thin ballasts have ignitors mounted separately. A good quality ballast, either thick or thin will last a long time and have a low failure rate.

before 2 set ang ballast meron ako, 1 pair is china na 55 watt ballast slim type...

after a couple of weeks, meh konting flickering sa start up... so pinalitan ko na lang agad..
2 pairrs thick ballast na nagamit ko before and hindi naman nagloko yung mga ballast so far..

pero siyempre as time goes by, there will improvements in terms of quality of the capacitors and other components inside the ballast

pero na observe ko even the OEM ones like Denso, matsushita, even the morimotos are thick in construction unlike the more common china type slim ballasts.. though denso calls their ballast slim pero parang malaki pa din eh..

Definitely not. Iba ang HID projectors sa HALOGEN projectors. It will have a better cut off than ordinary reflector bowls, pero it won't have the same output as what you see on garyq's threads as the ones you have are made for halogens only not HIDs

but will the hid/ halogen projector combo be better in terms of light output than the original halogen projector ?

I highly doubt sir... Kasi if your projectors are designed for halogen bulb pag nag hid ka, mas magmumukang intense lang yung color,, medyo scientific lang, pero iba kasi ang focal point ng halogen bulb versus sa hid bulb, therfore hindi mo talaga ma compare it to retrofit which specifically are made to utilize and maximize the light from the hid bulb...

Mas liliwanag syempre kasi naka-HID ka. Mas intense yung ilaw ng HIDs compared sa halogens. Pero yung light throw etc., can't compare with HID on HID projectors.

Mabuti nalang kamo yun mga headlights ng bagong Sorento at SF medyo malapit sa cutoff ng projector HID.

Things to know when upgrading to HID
