March 30th, 2010 08:40 PM #43Hi BinLim, I just finished reading your blog and I wanted to know if you had made any head way with your challenges with Mapfre. We too are Ondoy flood victims and we too have the same insurance company and we too are dealing with the same situation as you. We though are having some head way because we are dealing with Mapfre through the Insurance Commission and we have a case/hearing with them we are building a very big case against them. We too are asking for a total loss. Could we talk offline through email. I think we might be able to help each other and any other victims that are having troubles with Mapfre. my email is myburningheart*msn.com thanks, god bless and hope to hear back from you.

maybe those with problems with Mafpre can join force and file a class suit (if this possible) para kabahan naman sila at asikasuhin yung claims nyo....

Makakapag claim ka lang ng total loss kung ang damage ng sasakyan mo ay sakop ng naka stipulate sa policy mo i.e. own damage/ accident.
For those who have been victimized by ondoy kelangan may Acts of God clause ka before you can claim for a total loss.

Mark_t, Sir saan mas maganda, sa BPI/MS or sa MS directly kumuha ng insurance (mas mura ba sila compared to BPI?)
Thanks

You cannot buy insurance from them directly unless you are in japan or london,uk.
They usually own the insurance co. and Mitsui is in operation since 1700.
Actually bago lang bpi-ms, since 1999 lang ata so I choose FLT who is with MS since 1977.
I chose the co which has an older relationship with MS. I dont know kung ilan
na insurance co ang pag aari ng MS dito sa pinas exactly but marami sigurado.
I just happen to know 2. I went to FLT because mas matagal sya at maganda feedback
ng mga independent garages which i trust more than CASA.
You can check the profile of your present insurer and if it is partly owned by
mitsui safe ka na, pricing na lang ang pag uusapan. (And remember it is a regulated industry)
As for bpi ms it is an ayala group and the CASA is owned by ayala rin.
So you pay a little more for the ayala brand.
I went to the Elizalde brand(Lepanto Mining, Tutuban, Armalite, etc).
Because they make good cakes, mahilig ako sa cake eh.
And maganda treatment sa akin ng nakausap ko
doon. Even when I am just buying cakes.Last edited by mark_t; April 1st, 2010 at 07:12 PM.

April 8th, 2010 01:04 PM #48I think your suggetion about a class action lawsuit against Mapfre would be a wise idea. Yesterday my wife and I had our second hearing at the insurance commission against Mapfre. We finally got Mapfre to declare our Ondoy flooded vehicle a total loss after we had cornered them with fraud and unethical practices. Our 2008 Honda city has been sitting at their certified repair shop Auto Express Care Bulacan for 6 months and we finally got it sent to Honda Kaloocan because it needed a new Power Steering Module. As soon as we were notified we asked Honda Kaloocan service advisor to do a complete diagnostics and bumper to bumper inspection. Boy what was discovered was shocking. The computer box that was replaced was the wrong type and it was second hand. We found rust everywhere and ondoy mud all underneath the vehicle after it was lifted up in the air. For example racket pinoin steering, exhaust manifold, we found mud in all the air vents the aircon filter was not even touched. brake drums rusted. Honda came up with additional 200k pesos of work and parts. WOW. plus the work that was told to us that Auto Express Care did which totaled 233k pesos. The parts that Auto Express Care put in our vehicle were local and used parts. So we sent this info to Mapfre's VP Mr. Reyes and boy he was suprised. So at the IC hearing we were offered a total loss with payout, but they reduced the amount of our insurance policy with acts of god coverage of 540,000 pesos to 524,000. so we refused the offer and gave them a counter offer of 540k peso and a full refund of our policy premium. So we have been waiting 1 day so far for their reply. My wife also talked to one of the owners of Auto Express Care and we got him to tell us that all the ondoy flooded vehicles had BLACK Market and any parts they could find installed into the vehicles. So anyone that has had service done at this repair shop might want to bring their vehicles to their casa dealership for a full inspection. and have all findings noted for class action lawsuit. If anyone would like to partner up for a class action lawsuit, we should talk via email myburningheart*msn.com. Take care and I am very interested in hearing back from anyone that were victims of ondoy.
