Yan ang matagal ko na sinasabi taasan nila ang price ng fuel. Gawin na nila ₱100/L kahit for private car owners lang.

Of course, in terms of absolute value, that 7% is small. But you're still taking away 7% from what little the poor already have. That 7% means much more to them than it does to people who are more comfortable financially (on top of the tax reduction they'll be getting).

para sakin ok yan increase sa diesel coz it will phaseout the diesel guzzling dilapidated jeepney and they will opt to buy the new goverment regulated jeepneys. It's pro poor in a sense, that the poor will now ride better and possibly safer.

basta ang alam ko yare ang Uber at mga taxi dito na operating ng gasoline engines, the additional 2.65 / liter or average of 60 liters full tank, + P159.00 eery fill up. if like 3 fill ups per week x 4 weeks, that's P1908.00 per month more overhead. eto naman ang ganti ng gobyerno sa Uber.

That 7% increase is distributed among all passengers of these PUVs, so the effect should be minimal. I guess government is trying to promote public transportation with the additional taxes on fuel.

However, the other consumption taxes (LPG, sweetened drinks, etc.) are going to be a burden but should force people into more healthy lifestyles by consuming less of unhealthy items (softdrinks, cigarettes, etc.).

    Some thoughts:

Those earning around PHP 21,000 are now going to be income tax exempt. That range used to be taxed 25%.

There are items which won't see additional taxes, such as instant coffee and milk. Those might still see price increases due to transportation costs but that should be minimal. I guess government is trying to get us to avoid softdrinks and other sugary drinks in a subtle way.

Eh? The current 8-peso jeepney fare is also distributed among all passengers. So raise that 8 by 7% and you get 8.50. The 50 cents might not amount to much for the middle class but you should see how fervently the marginalized groups fight for that little amount.
