March 21st, 2004 07:15 AM #41noteworthy,
abrupt accelerations that spew out black smoke is not caused by the turbo. it is by the unburnt fuel since you accelerated it abruptly too. for the fuel to completely burn, acceleration should be done slowly and gradually. this after we did a test with a german instructor at TESDA.
with this action, it also does damage to your turbo's shaft and bearings.

naku, buti pala nabanggit nyo. ndagdagan na naman ang knowledge ko. i used to be "leadfoot" dahil dati gas fed ang madalas kong ginagamit. now i know. wala ba tayong mga book of tips on how to take care of our diesel engines aside from the owner's manual? kasi hindi reliable ang owners' manual, kulang ang mga info. thanks!

June 5th, 2006 05:16 PM #49how will I know if the turbo in a 4d56 engine work? I rarely accelerate my tacho to 2000 rpm. I usually drive 1500 to 1800 rpm * 50-70kph on hiways. I still haven't feel that kick in the engine or heard the "whistling sound" when I go above 2,000 rpm.
Need your info on this. Thanks in advance!

Sir, kung minsan talaga hardly felt ang pag kick in the turbo...but you'll know your turbo has had it when your rig starts pulling like a gutless pig. =) some mechanic even told me that you can really feel it kapag hirap na ang engine mo (just don't know to which extent)
too much white smoke can also be a culprit...
if you really want to see it...just remove the air hose from your intake...you should see your turbo/impeller at work and spinning really fast.Last edited by BeetOls; June 5th, 2006 at 05:35 PM.
