the only downside to diesel really is the dirty and smelly exhast. especially when you're running behind them and a small amount of the fumes goes into your air conditioning. just makes me wanna cut the vehicle in front of me and give the driver the middle finger.

according to the today's manila bulletin motoring section, diesel dominates gasoline by around 7:3 in average (SUV, AUV category).

My only problem with the Everest would be the size. Anything larger than an AUV is already too big for my taste, yung bagong Pajero nga lang nalalakihan na ko e. That would also mean limited parking options.

Except of course the Humvee. Yun, pambaragas talaga, hehehe.

diesel for an AUV... no one touched on the injectors though. yan ang inaalagaan. yeah the engine is "bulletproof" but the injector is not. if not maintained frequently/properly, yari ka din.

    goodluck on your quest padre...

i used to drive a diesel AUV M/T...averaged about 6-7kms/liter. but the ride comfort? nada. plus no respect and courtesy from other drivers.

i now drive a honda odyssey (subic version pero rack is new...accord based eh)...much more comfy and POWERFUL, cheaper price of admission though my consumption is about 5.5kms/liter. parts so far have not been a pain in the neck insofar as availability is concerned (parts can be taken from an accord or CRV), and the space is really good.

a 1st gen odyssey is worth looking at before considering a gas-powered innova. powerwise mas malakas. i think gas consumption will just be the same--if not, offset na naman ng initial cost eh. interior is just as plush, if not as modern. the stowaway seats at the back are more space efficient--fold flat like the jazz and zafira. moreover, the conversion is rather safe and doesn't look obtrusive. wiper assembly doesn't even need conversion!!! headlights and steering column switches lang and prob.

    Hello!

Everytime I drop by sa gas station eh hindi ko maiwasan na imonitor ang difference ng gas sa diesel. As of today ang difference is only Php 1.70 ng diesel at xtra.

Sa dami ng mga naglabasan na diesel engine vehicles at sa dami ng mga nag shift sa diesel siguro by this time mas malaki na ang proportion ng diesel owners kaysa sa gas.

Its true na diesel engines are more expensive pero more fuel efficient. That is, mas tataas ang halaga ng diesel katulad sa States due to the Law of Supply and Demand?

Pero dahil sa trending ng panahon I decided to stick sa gas powered engine coz by a year or two most likely pareho na ang presyo ng ating gas at diesel.

sir, to answer your question. oo, tama ka. konti na lang ang difference ng diesel at gas in terms of pump prices. nagkakatalo lang talaga sila sa fuel efficiency. mas mataas ang thermal efficiency ng diesel engine kesa sa gas engine. sa maintenance, mas ok ang diesel kasi heavy duty ito. and torquey, by the way. mas magamit ang torque sa low-end rpm, lalo at stop and go traffic. in this regard ang diesel panalo. imagine the torque of a diesel to a gas, well it is stunning. take for example these two engines: d15y7 (civic lxi, 106hp*6400rpm, 13.8 kg-m *3800 rpm) 1.5L, 4jhtc-1 (130hp*3400rpm, 28.5 kg-m *2000 rpm) 3.0L TDIC. alam mo ba ang fuel consumption ng diesel is much better than the 1.5L gas engine? average ang 12 km/L sa diesel while sa gas naman 9-10 km/L on combined (based on my own rides) highway and city driving. constrained ako sa 2000 rpm limit lagi, 80 km/h sa highway.
