styx, aaron, according to jaeger, there is a whining noise coming from the engine when using higher blend of bd. I also noticed this in my sedona at 2% blend. Why is this? Is this good or not good? Before kasi, the whining sound would disappear when I prime the fuel priming pump, in effect may tubig o hangin that's why the engine whines. But I still noticed the whine in my sedona but this time, its permanent, even if I prime the priming pump. I noticed Diesoline's sedona didn't have the same whine, when we conducted the smoke emission test wherein we poured BD into his system and drove the car around for a while, ako kasi nag drive ng kotse niya. At that time, diesoline admitted he hasn't used BD for several fuel loads already.

    Hello Altec,

Frankly i am not so sure what is that whinning noise coming out from the engine. Per my observation on some engine, probably that is the TURBO. I ahd observed several engines with that in the past and that is during the turbo activation.
Just today i drove a toyota surf 2.8 liter from subic and i had observed that noise started to sound when turbo just activated. I had confirmed this kasi it also appears dun sa indicator ( via lamp ) sa panel that the turbo has been activated ( above 2100 rpm. ).
Personally, i have not noticed that noise in my 2.5 Innova. Maybe we can start observing and ask some of our friends here in tsikot especially yung may mga turbo so we can look into it.

Try to observed din kung kelan nag start yung noise. If it started above 2000 RPM ( constant running ), that could be the turbo. Than you very much

    Altec,

Yes your correct. And i will add some inputs na rin.
There are some instances din that carbon sets in the injector tips causing partial injector plugging. Another is that worn out / enlarge nozzles tend to clogged up which beyond naked eye, we presumed nasa original setting pa sya. Once BioActiv is used, this carbon will be flushed out from the tips thereby promoting more fuel on the combustion chamber which resulted to more smoke and less power. So, if that happens, it only indicates that injectors should and must be replaced or calibrated.

In case naman na mahina power, like Altec have said, it could be the deposit ng dirt sa fuel filter.

Please try to regularly clean the air filter din kasi it is very important! Adequate air will give efficient combustion din.

    Altec, galing na explanation!

These are some important things to consider when using bd in an old car. 1st, the larger the mileage, the bigger is the carbon deposit accumulation in the entire engine system, all the way to your exhaust. 2nd, any observed loose compression means your engine has to work harder than normal, and using bd may exacerbate or make worse the loose compression by removing any carbon deposits that are around seals and gaskets that will create more unwanted oil flow into the combustion chamber. 3rd, with an older car, using bd will flush out these deposits and will quickly clog your fuel filter, thus a loss of power, and an unconscious effort to press on the gas pedal more to achieve the same level of power that you are maintaining.

When my company started using BD and it is extensively reported over at kotse.com in my thread biodiesel fuel economy result, we had several vehicles that experienced lower fuel economy. We eventually had the injection pump calibrated because the injector nozzles were enlarged and spraying more fuel than normal. We theorized that the use of BD cleaned out the deposits around the nozzles and exposed the nozzles' excessive wear and tear. This was also suggested by garyq who supplied me the bd. Some had to undergo engine overhaul for similar problems. After the necessary repair, the fuel economy were back to its expected levels.

Same theory applies to carbon cleaning. They use a chemical to flush out the deposits in the system, and this gets accumulated in the fuel filter, that's why with carbon cleaning, it includes an immediate fuel filter replacement. The shop that did the carbon cleaning in one of my cars (before I went into BD), admitted to me that they experienced 2 cars they serviced that complained and eventually required overhauling! These cars were old, over 100,000km mileage, and not really well maintained. Carbon cleaning removed all the soot and carbon, and right after, erratic engine and leaks were noticed. After that experience, they check the status of the vehicle prior to carbon cleaning and ask the owner to sign a waiver if they think the car is near overhauling or may have clogged oversized injectors already, or else they will reject the car for carbon cleaning. Same thing basically happens when you use BD, without the harsh chemicals.

Tama ba ito, styx and aaron?

How long can you store these BD? I bought 1 box of bioactiv, based on my consumption it can last me more than a year. Sobra kasi mahal pag yung 500ml lang eh.

If I recall correctly, as long as it is sealed it is recommended to use within a year. If seal is broken, it is recommended to use within a month.

I got a brochure from a AMR's BioActiv booth in passing at Market-Market just this weekend. AMR sells 1000ml BioActiv at Php80! Meron na po ba 1L bottles?
