These are some important things to consider when using bd in an old car. 1st, the larger the mileage, the bigger is the carbon deposit accumulation in the entire engine system, all the way to your exhaust. 2nd, any observed loose compression means your engine has to work harder than normal, and using bd may exacerbate or make worse the loose compression by removing any carbon deposits that are around seals and gaskets that will create more unwanted oil flow into the combustion chamber. 3rd, with an older car, using bd will flush out these deposits and will quickly clog your fuel filter, thus a loss of power, and an unconscious effort to press on the gas pedal more to achieve the same level of power that you are maintaining.
When my company started using BD and it is extensively reported over at kotse.com in my thread biodiesel fuel economy result, we had several vehicles that experienced lower fuel economy. We eventually had the injection pump calibrated because the injector nozzles were enlarged and spraying more fuel than normal. We theorized that the use of BD cleaned out the deposits around the nozzles and exposed the nozzles' excessive wear and tear. This was also suggested by garyq who supplied me the bd. Some had to undergo engine overhaul for similar problems. After the necessary repair, the fuel economy were back to its expected levels.
Same theory applies to carbon cleaning. They use a chemical to flush out the deposits in the system, and this gets accumulated in the fuel filter, that's why with carbon cleaning, it includes an immediate fuel filter replacement. The shop that did the carbon cleaning in one of my cars (before I went into BD), admitted to me that they experienced 2 cars they serviced that complained and eventually required overhauling! These cars were old, over 100,000km mileage, and not really well maintained. Carbon cleaning removed all the soot and carbon, and right after, erratic engine and leaks were noticed. After that experience, they check the status of the vehicle prior to carbon cleaning and ask the owner to sign a waiver if they think the car is near overhauling or may have clogged oversized injectors already, or else they will reject the car for carbon cleaning. Same thing basically happens when you use BD, without the harsh chemicals.

March 21st, 2006 11:24 AM #665smaller bottles will be more expensive on a per liter basis because you have to pay for the packaging. Same applies with catsup, cooking oil, batteries (aaa,aa,c,d), etc. I am not into packaging business so I really don't know but if you look at the difference per liter, ganun ba yan ka mahal? As explained by chemrez, those in the pails and drums are different type of BD than those in the smaller bottles and the BD liquid is the more expensive type. But in the case of the 1 liter below bottles, I believe its the same BD quality, therefore, pricing differential is purely a packaging issue.

Hi Sir Styx,
I have nothing against the product...please don't get me wrong. I will continue to buy Bioactiv because I know its rewards both to my rig and to the environment.
I just got pissed on the lousy service and pricing of Unioil yesterday and swore that I will never ever purchase from them anymore.
Anyway, I ususally get my BD at Flying V near Marquinton and fill up at a nearby Petron Station. Maybe yesterday wasn't my day kasi hindi ko na naabutan na bukas ang shop ng Flying V and pagpunta ko pa sa buysit na Unioil na yan, they didn't have the 1 liter bottles.
Anyway, thanks again for developing and promoting this great product.
Just a thought...can't you, together with the other BD developers put up your own gas stations with BD mix using a reputable Diesel fuel from a big player (say Petron or Shell)? Or maybe you can coordinate with them to put up a fuel lane with pre mixed BD na kayo ang liable kung magkaroon ng problema (if its only accountability we're talking about)?

Kami kasi, we already premix bd1 in our overhead diesel tank that supplies all our vehicles. I have offered to some of my friends to refuel there pero wala pa nag take up sa offer, except some of the company employees' personal diesel rides. wala kasing resibo eh, di naman kami in that business. With our experience, we ended up installing a makeshift water separator using a big empty nescafe bottle then through a fuel filter assembly from a v8 truck engine before the fuel enters a vehicle's fuel tank so prefiltered na ang diesel. This idea was suggested to me by garyq, one the bd veterans here!
Nasa Cebu lang nga yung overhead tank!!Last edited by altec; March 21st, 2006 at 12:17 PM.

last week kasi nag pa greasing ako and i inquired sa isang petron station dito sa dasma cavite at sabi nila wala pa raw silang biodiesel. actually, hindi nga alam ng babae sa counter kung ano yung biodiesel.
anyway, i'll try to ask other petron stations here if they are selling bioactive products.
thanks.
