At present the price per liter or kg of RBD (refined bleached deodorized coco oil) is still high thereby ending up with a BD price of at least P55/ltr kaya di economical pa. But if the govt will put up subsidies for the coco industry...definitely costs will go down.
At present, are we concluding that putting up a business such as this is not viable?

What I'am trying to arrive at is, kung kaya ng masang mag-pipol power para palitan ang govt; kaya din natin sigurong mag set-up ng business such as this even without govt's support. I think kung maraming taong magsasama-sama (sort of cooperative), definitely the govt will be forced to come up with a program for this diesel substitute to bring down the price. Who knows, if the supply is high, we'll be able to export BD.

I hope fellow tsikoteers can see my vision for this industry. Malaking magagawa nito for our economy. No sa palagay nyo mga bros.

Thanks jaeger for the welcome note. Just want to share whatever limited knowledge I have given my short but rewarding experience in the development of BD.

Its hard for me to say that its not viable. Afterall, the BD market is still in its infancy stage here in RP as compared to the US and especially Europe which have been using BD for over 10 years now. But the prospects given the increasing prices of petrol augurs well for alternative fuels such as BD. The sooner that the reality of high fuel prices sink into the consumers mind, the faster it would be that demand for BD and even ethanol will pick up. But honestly, whats giving me doubts about pursuing this is the governments lack of vision. Our BD project started as early as 2001 and it was only in 2003 that the govt mandated the use by al govt vehicles of a 1-2% blend of biodiesel. We did representations to the DOE and the big oil players who acknowledged the benefits of BD (since they have actual experience abroad already) but still nothing happened. If only the govt would mandate these oil players (just like in Brazil etc.) to blend BD with their fuel even at 2% blend, ayos na ang market for BD. But we have nothing of that till now because lobby money flows. This is big business and the multinational oil players have a lot to lose given that their business relies on fossil-based fuel. Its sad and pitiful....but thats how things are with our govt.

Thank you very much sir cocojam. You've been very kind to share your experiences to us.

    OT lang po.
Sayang, kaya pala maraming pinoys abroad ang ayaw umuwi at tumulong sa economy through small businesses because of their lack of confidence on the govt.

Premixed biodiesel is available at Flying V stations (selected lang). I've been using it for two weeks and the improvement is noticeable. I actually chanced on a Toyota FX cab filling up with biodiesel, which means na impressed sila sa mileage.

It's more expensive by 1 peso, but for me it's worth it.

Sir altec. Is there a problem with using petron's diesel with biodiesel?

rafraf, update na rin. Just now, nakauwi na ang sedona ko. Yung fuel knock, bumalik, but my mechanic discovered may gasgas na ang priming pump ko, thus may air leak. Might be the cause of my fuel knock. Had my tank cleaned and unloaded, ang daming black colored sand like stuff. In the course of cleaning, napansin na bumubula ang crudo na lumalabas sa priming button. So had it replaced. I asked Kia why nasira, duda nila sa kakabomba in trying to fix the fuel knock. Regarding petron, hanggang ngayon di ako sinisiputan ng account executive. Just today, pinadalhan ko ang boss niya ng complaint letter. Like I mentioned several pages back (i think its on page 38 or 39), I can't pinpoint it to be from them because our inhouse overhead tank doesn't get from petron only but also other suppliers. Coincidentally nagsilabasan ang problema namin with that particular load. We've had 2 other loads after petron. Nilinis na namin ang overhead tank, ang daming sludges, may black colored lumot, plus water na. And the bottom part na diesel was already murky, so murky that even if you leave it overnight, ayaw magsettle ang dumi. This kind of diesel is terrible for our injection pump. How this came about? Di ko na malalaman. But as I said in a thread I started about petron diesel na bulok, yung auntie ko runs a petron gas station. I now use shell fleet card para mapilitan ko ang company cars na hindi na doon sa kanya kumuha, kasi alam ko ang mga not good things she does. Also, another friend who is now an ex petron gas station dealer. Nahuli kasi ng petron sa kalokohan nila. I thought it was the dealers who are doing this, not petron. But with what happened to me where I buy direct from suppliers, its not good if I suspect petron's supply.

Thanks for the comments. Cguro nga depende sa mga distributor un. BPI-PETRON card user pa nman ako. I get a 2% rebate from my consumption. Pwedeng pang offset sa estrol na ihahalo ko.
