Chief, it's been the headline for weeks now... they are doing their share.

    FROM INQ7.net--->

"Coco-biodiesel currently has three blends, depending on the amount of CME mixed with diesel.

The B1 variety is a one percent blend, the stronger B10 has 10 percent blend. A B100 meanwhile is pure coco-biodiesel.

These are available in select gasoline stations in Metro Manila and some provinces.

For immediate results, Lao suggested that a first-time user initially fill up with the B10 blend.

Later, when the engine is already "clean," he may start using the B1 blend.

    But there is a downside.

The B1 blend, now available in five Flying V gasoline stations in Metro Manila and select Seaoil stations, costs about P65 per liter, or more than double the current price of diesel which ranges from P29.40 to P31.

A B100, now available in one-liter bottles in some 192 gasoline stations and 110 direct selling outlets of manufacturing firms, sells at more than P120 per liter. About 10 coconuts would be necessary to make a liter of B100."

I think the article is off. I can buy a bottled pure blend of 200ml for P35 in Sea Oil - by the way, buying more is less costly. To get a B1 for 1 liter dieselMAX at P30.48 (Petron) I only need 10ml of coco biodiesel - so 10ml would roughly cost P1.6 only. So 99% diesel is P34.14 and 1% coco biodiesel is P1.6, which will sum up to P35.74 per liter for a B1 (actually mahal pa nga ito considering I used a bottled 200ml coco biodiesel as my reference). But the bottomline is I wouldn't expect B1 direct from the pumps to be as high as P65/liter!!!

Aren't those prices quite expensive : pure biodiesel (B100) at 200ml bottle for P35; this translates to P175 per liter. I've been buying Senbel Estrol for only P66 per liter.

Aren't all these the same CME? Are there any product differentiations like additives or what? Bakit mas mahal ang B100 ng Seaoil and Flying V compared to Senbel Estrol? What do they have that Senbel Estrol doesn't?

    SeaOil BioExceed prices:
    200ml bottle is P35
1 liter bottle is P125 - P50 saved rather than buying the 5 small 200ml bottles

I think someone here mentioned before that SeaOil gets their stock from Chemrez (probably different process from Senbel)... and most likely SeaOil have added/charged some addl costs. But you can see also that the more volume you buy of pure biodiesel, the less costly it gets too.

Kay sir garyq carbouy ang bentahan (senbel i believe, pls correct me if I'm wrong) at mas mura nga.

Wish I could get hold of Senbel biodiesel here in Cavite but unfortunately walang malapit na distributor. SeaOil pinakamalapit sa amin, and I buy monthly stock of 1 liter bottles. I do my own mixing of 1% to 2% blend now.

Actually, I've been pondering the possibility of being a distributor. Pwede kaya? Anyone know how I can start or get setup? Meron ba small business/franchise nito... hehehehe?

Sana baguhin ng Senbel ang marketing strategy nila, ang hirap makabili ng Estrol. Makipag tie up sana sila sa Big Three para maging accessible ang Estrol nila.

THE GOVERNMENT effort to conserve the use of fuel by mandating agencies to blend at least one percent of coco methyl ester (CME) with their diesel requirements, has hit an auditing snag.

Dean Lao Jr., operations manager of coco-biodiesel manufacturer Chemrez Inc., said the Commission on Audit should find a way to enable government firms to procure CME without worrying about auditing hassles.

Under the current arrangement, he said, the line item for transport fuel is only either gasoline or diesel, with no provision for the purchase of blending agents such as CME.

"So they [COA] are actually part of the problem," he said at a recent briefing.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo early last year issued Memorandum Circular No. 55, which ordered all government agencies to blend at least one percent of CME with all their diesel requirements.

Data from the Department of Energy (DoE) showed that the country generated more than 2.5 billion pesos in foreign exchange savings from the mandatory use of CME as a diesel blend for government vehicles.

Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla earlier said that the government registered forex savings of around 127 million pesos from 977,000 liters of displaced diesel.

Also, the accessibility of CME products--these are now being sold as retail shelf items in gasoline stations nationwide--generated another 2.4 billion pesos in savings, coming from 95 million liters of displaced diesel based on a one-percent CME blend.

There are an estimated 29,619 diesel-run government vehicles, including those owned by local government units. These are all covered by the circular.

With all of these vehicles complying with the order, a total of around 65,799 kiloliters of CME will likely be consumed this year, according to the DoE's updated Philippine Energy Plan for 2005-2014.

The plan is part of the government effort to become 60-percent energy self-sufficient by 2010. The plan will also provide additional revenue for the country's 3.6 million coconut farmers.

The escalating prices of crude and petroleum products in the world market has pushed the government to aggressively explore alternative fuel sources.
