i dropped by the local flying v station here this morning because i was attracted by their banner touting "CME pre-blended diesel." deciphering CME as coconut methyl ester, i promptly pulled over to make usyoso.
they put in 150 liters of biodiesel for every 12000 liters straight crude. that makes it a 1.25% blend, tama ba? they are selling it for 31.40/liter. for comparison, total here sells diesel at 30.79/liter.

checkout the latest (or last week's) issue of Newsweek magazine. their cover story is about Biofuels. a its very good read. due to skyrocketing oil prices, most industrialized countries are now exploring the development of alternative fuel. it mentions brazil as the 'saudi arabia of biofuel'. they are going to start exporting to japan & china.

August 12th, 2005 05:52 PM #287If Im not mistaken Brazil has developed already a ethanol based fuel and they are very serious about it. From sugar cane ito. Wala talagang pupuntahan ang presyo ng fossil fuel kundi pataas. Di ba yung print ad na " we used the 1st trillion barrels of oil in the last 125 years, the next trillion in the next 30 years", supply and demand na magdi-dictate nyan. Ok na rin that we are being pushed to explore renewable sources of energy. It's the way to go.
