Please do not mis-understand me. You are correct in your concerns about glycerine, acid value, fatty acids, etc. However these tests need special equipment like gas chromatographs. They take time & are expensive. Not everyone can do them.
Chemrez & Senbel are reputable companies. We have to believe they meet DOE and PNS requirements.
Please note, not delivering 10-15% Fuel Savings will not necessarily mean their CME fail specs. Our vehicles may be the culprits or there is no truth to the claim.
However, if we do see 10-15% Fuel Savings when we compare before & after data, we have to attribute that to CME and let us tell the world about it.
Having before & after data is IMPORTANT. Please determine your fuel consumption on pure diesel now so you can compare something later.

as far as PNS is concerned, titration lang yung TG and acid value. we do it on a routine basis. European standards yung gumagamit ng GC.
as for mileage figures, my own personal experience (and I have a 5 year record of my fuel/mileage figures), around 8-12% improvement lang depending on driving habits. more pag highway driving. what's very evident is that consistently passing yung emissions ko and has in fact decreased from the original 0.65, went down to as low as 0.18 yata, and last check ko was 0.32 yata, average of 5 lowest readings - and that was on old engine oil and no cleaning of exhaust pipe or air filters. yun naman talga primary benefit from using cme, improved fuel combustion. as Doc otep put it correctly, icing on the cake na lang yung slightly improved fuel consumption.

In the meantime, sukatin mo ang Fuel Consumption mo at i-post sa "What is your Diesel Fuel Consumption?" ngayon sa pure diesel. Kunin mo uli pagka gumagamit ka na ng 1% CME blended diesel at i-compara natin kung tutuong may Fuel Savings.

    Quoting Petron president Al-Faddagh:

"Our priority for ethanol is really to secure ethanol domestically. We have two years. Hopefully, when that applies, our expectation is that there will be at that time a steady supply of ethanol or an industry that can support the introduction of ethanol that will come from the domestic market, which is similar to what we’re doing now with CME (coco methyl ester)," he said.

He said they are optimistic that the supply of ethanol will be as stable as CME.

"The reason CME is viable now is because it has a supply chain that can cover the whole Philippines – that’s really the idea," he said.

He said the issues on CME have been resolved. "We have a clear position on it, and the whole issue about the Biofuels Act is really to create an industry that will be self-sufficient. We have no issue with CME anymore. Consumers can be rest assured that we will not introduce a fuel without really having the proper testing, validating it, and knowing exactly what kind of additives we can add to it, because you add CME it’s like a chain of things, so you put additives that will neutralize the effects of certain components of that."

In case you've been following my Fuel Mileage observations on 0.5% CME using simulated dyno test procedures for more accurate data, today I obtained 12.98 km/L northbound and 13.23 km/L southbound. Total mileage on CME to date = 13,595.3 kms.

These values are slightly lower because ongoing construction in the NLEX required some slow travel (in 3rd & 4th gear at the viaduct & a bridge between San Simon & San Fernando) that uses more fuel.

These values, however, are still consistent as they represent 8.25% and 10.34% increases in mileage on a baseline of 11.99 km/L on pure diesel.

When the BioFuels Act is implemented on May 06, my observations will shift to 1.0% CME. I am curious what mileage increase will result from the "higher" percentage blend. Aren't you?

i was told by my aunt that trooper and alterra models will be "incompatible" with diesel blended with biodiesel. her source was gas stations, can anybody confirm or disprove this claim?

Wheter they are "compatible" or not, if fact, whether we like it or not -- as 1% CME will increase diesel cost by 30 to 50 centavos per liter -- all diesel to be sold in the Philippines soon will have 1% CME pre-blended when we buy it.

The "fears" of your source are most likely unfounded. There have been no published reports about it. Most reports (from other BioDiesels made in other countries) give lower fuel mileage or use more fuel per kilometer. The additional cost is justified by reduced pollution, better lubricity, etc.

Only CME appears to be capable of giving improved mileage or uses less fuel per kilometer. I suggest you get your fuel mileage on pure diesel and compare it later to see if this is true. Enter your data in the "What is your diesel fuel consumption?" thread.

As for any problems with CME, please report them on this thread so we can all be informed.
