February 22nd, 2007 11:30 PM #1051I re-arranged the data for easier comparison & study.
My own data are as follows:
0.5% CME
01/11/07 ABonifacio Shell - NLEX Petron Lakeshore
62.38 km 4.75 liters 13.13 km/L
01/12/07 NLEX Mexico Tollgate - (Caltex West Ave)**
64.76 km 4.80 liters 13.49 km/L**
1% CME
02/05/07 NLEX Balintawak Tollgate - NLEX Mexico Tollgate
61.19 km 4.43 liters 13.83 km/L
02/07/07 NLEX Dau Tollgate - NLEX Caltex
65.41 km 4.75 liters 13.77 km/L
0.5% CME
02/13/07 NLEX Balintawak Tollgate - NLEX Mexico Tollgate
61.30 km 4.55 liters 13.47 km/L
02/13/07 NLEX San Simon Tollgate – ABonifacio Union Oil
47.68 km 3.55 liters 13.43 km/L
Please NOTE these were taken in “simulated dyno” runs: Constant 80kph speed in the NLEX without AC. (Speed is clocked at 45 secs per km post to ensure speed accuracy & a calibrated 6L fuel tank is used to determine exact fuel used.)
Traffic fluctuations in the Rosario-Ortigas and Pasig-Nasugbu routes & differences in fuel dispensers can cause un-acceptable data. Ideally, these tests should be performed on chassis dynamometers however existing dynos in the Philippines are not suitable these tests. I believe my “simulated dyno” is the best option we have.
A CME FUEL-MILEAGE RALLY
I have a financial-offer for fuel expenses & the NLEX seems agreeable to waiving toll fees for above rally. I can also try arranging for media coverage & complimentary refreshments. Would you be interested in participating so we can accurately measure & study CME fuel mileage? If so, please email me at <biogas.works*gmail.com> and let’s plan it.

February 26th, 2007 11:39 PM #1053The CME FUEL-MILEAGE RALLY I proposed is not a "pantapat sa Petron." Friends & colleagues who know about my efforts offered incentives & support. I simply wanted to share their generosity -- so we can ALL learn more about CME (in a public-service manner.)
However, due to poor response to my invitation, I am withdrawing this RALLY proposal. It is probably not needed anyway since CME appears to be a good if not "a perfect" product whether used in 0.5%, 1% or higher blends.

A bit of topic medyo nagulat lang ako. I just got my ride calibrated last week at central diesel clinic in Q.Ave, its an 94 L200 and I had it emission tested and it averaged 1.65 (lowest value it got is 1.22) Would you say this is normal or do i have to have it adjusted further. Do you think using BD would SUBSTANTIALLY lower my emission.

pro-bio,
i read that same news feature in a national newspaper long time ago. it made menioned of dr. rico cruz. i tried to surf his name on the net and found nothing. im really interested on how you do it, for personal use only. like anybody else, i just want to save on fuel cost and lesser maintenance cost.
im interested in biodiesel and read a lot of materials on this. i even tried this at home, following the same formula i found in the net. but i was hesitant to pour it on my tank. its bcoz its necessary to 'wash' it, as advised in the net. our homemade bio-diesel might have higher moisture content and would lead to engine failure. problem is, i cant wash it. as far i know, walang device for sale d2 sa atin. in the states, merong available. hope you can shade light on this. thanks.

March 23rd, 2007 11:57 AM #1057I do not know off any gas station or anybody selling biodiesel along NLEX. Going to Baguio, in Binalonan, Pangasinan, along that cross-road going to Manaoag, is a Flying V station that sells biodiesel. There is another Flying V station before reaching Rosario, La Union, near (front actually) Rick's Cafe.

tsikot peeps,
Since Flying V is mentioned. I just want to say that they sell good diesel fuel. I am a Petron patron, but one time I loaded up at the Araneta branch of Flying V, iba ang effect sa engine ko (4JG2-TC Indirect Combustion engine). Sa sobrang ganda ng combustion tumaas around 200rpm ang tach. Ewan ko kung ano ang Cetane or Lubricity rating nila but one thing i am sure mas maganda ang tining ng makina. Sad thing is that malayo ang Flying V stations sa akin kaya madalas balik Petron ako. Whenever I go to Walco(Banawe) to buy parts i make it a point to load up.

March 24th, 2007 08:50 AM #1059We just got back from a long vacation/road tour to San Juan, Vigan, Laoag, Bacarra, Bangui, Pagudpud (Pancian) & Baguio. We logged about 1,500km.
I estimate we saved about 15liters (using only 150liters instead of 165+liters) by using 0.5%CME.
I brought my own CME (BioActiv) but most of the Petron Stations we stopped at sold BioActiv (between P75-85/500ml bottle.)
The Shell (between Mabalacat & Bamban) & Petron (Bamban) sell Diesel for only P30.60/liter. The Shell, Petron & Caltex (in Moncada, Tarlac) for P28.45/liter. The Flying V, Petron & Caltex (2 to 3 towns north of San Fernando, La Union) for P29.95/liter. Normal prices in these areas are P31.98, P32.50 and P32.78. However, I can't vouch for the accuracy of their meters. Buyers BE WARY?
Here's something worth TRYING: The fun & inexpensive introductory surfing in San Juan (La Union). It will make follow-up surfing in the bigger waves of Blue Lagoon in Pagudpud more exciting.
The beach & resorts in San Juan are much BETTER than those in Bauang. As San Juan is only about 30 minutes north of Bauang, those who haven't seen it yet -- SHOULD. Bring binoculars to ogle swimmers, surfers, beach volleyballers, etc. while sipping beer & watching the sunset. This place is the next best thing if you cant go to Boracay or Hawaii (specially if you are in Baguio or going to Pancian.)
Happy summer to all.
