January 17th, 2015 08:08 AM #62When my car released from the dealer last may, I used shell nitro plus till dec and the engine is noisy once in while when idling. Then switch to petron xcs, I only heard is the normal engine noise. Im not sure about knocking sound, cause I dont know what its sound like.

Nope. Talaga lang mas mahina ang Caltex kaysa Petron and Shell.
Petron is number 1 and has about 1/3 market share, Shell is a close number 2 with also about 1/3 market share. Caltex used to have about 20% market share but this has declined to about 12-15% today and is continuously declining.
Reason for this is because Caltex is consolidating and focusing on improving profitability rather than expansion and reclaiming market share. If you would notice, Caltex is closing a lot of its stations - these are the ones that aren't very profitable (high lease, low volume, loss could be absorbed by a nearby Caltex). They have also closed their refinery in Batangas and are now purely importers. The sites that they retained, they gave a full visual refresh with new paint and signages. They're cutting on capex so you won't find new Caltex stations anymore. Heck, kahit nga empleyado di na nila binibilhan ng kotse. Opex budget nalang yun - here have an extra 30k per month, buy yourself a car and maintain it yourself.
Why? Because they're preparing to sell. Within the next decade, Caltex will most likely fold to whoever's willing to buy them at a good price.
But regardless of all this, their fuel is actually good.

January 19th, 2015 07:05 PM #67I'm a noobie driver pa lang. My car's (Mirage HB CVT) min. fuel requirement is 91RON so I'm using Shell's FuelSave since day 1. Dito sa LasPinas Moonwalk area, cheaper ang gas prices, like today ang FuelSave ng Shell is 34.90php/L lang, satisfied naman ako sa FC ng FuelSave ~ 14km/L to 16km/L max.
But I wanted to try SeaOil's Extreme U (same 91RON) to see if "hihiyang" ang makina nito para in case mag increase nanaman ang gas prices eh hindi masakit sa bulsa since cheaper ang SeaOil at malapit din sa lugar ko.
Can someone vouch for this fuel? ie: clean etc. And also, may 3bars pa ako ng Shell FuelSave, okay lang po ba na magpagas na ako sa SeaOil? Thank you.

Magkano ba ang difference ng Seaoil sa Shell diyan? Is it really worth it to shift for you, knowing na ok naman sa Shell?
I can't vouch for Seaoil's quality. They're a local company so unlike Total or Caltex that are also importers but have stricter quality control standards, Seaoil's sources are a little more unknown. But I've tried them a couple of times, ok naman and no noticeable change in engine performance or economy.
Ikaw bahala, if you wanna switch for the sake of trying something new. Pwede naman bumalik sa Shell uli. Also, yes it's okay even if you still have some fuel from your previous Shell fillup. If it's just 1/4 or less of your tank, then any performance/economy gains/losses can be attributed to the Seaoil fuel you'll be putting in.

January 19th, 2015 07:45 PM #69*jut703 -- at least 1 peso and few cents difference per liter din. Thanks. I will try a full gas tank with SeaOil, let's see.

Filled up with Caltex Gold today. Mas listo ang engine sa tingin ko. Last full tank was with Petron XCS.
3M Color Stable series are all above 50% TSER. RFID readable through the tint, stays good for...
What's the best car tint brand and color?
