Auto-LPG Conversion Thread

Just came from Autogas Power. They are located in Scout Boromeo near ABS CBN right side if coming from T Morato. Maliit lang siya. Located in an office building, ni walang work shop. Sa parking lot sila nagkakabit. Saw them converting an Optra. May nakapark din na F150 na converted na.

Talked to Paul, according to him they carry Tartarini Auto lpg kits from Italy. He said that they follow Euro standards and that their kits are 4th generation compared to 2nd generation from the Koreans. Closed loop system daw ang gamit nila. Looked at the 2 cars and got some brochures.

According to the brochure, the kit has 6 components.
1. LPG regulator
2. Rail of injectors. They install lpg injectors. According to the brochure, it matches the vehicle requirement, distributes equal amount of gas to each cylinder and is electrically controlled.
3. Filter to hold back impurities. Replace daw at 60,000 kms.
4. Absolute pressure sensor
5. Sequential Electronic Control Unit or ECU. Quote brochure "The electronic control unit of the multipoint sequential system directly processes the injection timing of the original petrol injectors, transforming it into injection timing for the gas injectors. In this way the strategies defined by the vehicle manufacturer are guarnateed in terms of driving conditions and emmissions. It is equipped with effective and functional diagnosis system and is pre-arranged to meet OBD norms."
6. Change over switch. Used to switch from unleaded to lpg.

Impressed ako sa trabaho. Mukhang malinis ang pagkagawa nung 2 kotse. Sabi nila na sasali daw sila sa autoshow sa Sept at BMW ang ipapakita nila na converted. May naconvert na daw silang Expedition.

I saw the injectors, regulator, ECU, filter and switch. Yung tank comes with seolonoid valve (tama ba spelling?) and pressure release valve. It is also fitted with an exhaust hose to clear out any excess gas.

Start niya yung F150 using gas then it switched to lpg after a few seconds. Saw this on the change over switch and the gas smell went away when the lpg kicked in. Did not hear or notice any change from the car during the switch. He demo several times by using the switch to go back and forth from gas to lpg.

So far I think its a very good system. Its superior to what Naidss uses. Ang catch: MAHAL!!! For my car 2.0 V6 quote ay 75,000 Reason is expensive parts: ECU and will use 2 sets of injectors.

Per my estimate, it will take over 2 years for me to recover the cost of the kit. Is it worth it? I honestly don't know. Ok kasi it will maintain the original parameters of the car but at a price. What do you think, help naman.

I am still looking for the best option out there. I hope someone can give me the location of Macro or their tel number. The number previously posted is wrong.

i really doubt that.

this Italian kit seems to use the gasoline injector trigger signals to trigger the LPG injectors. the timing of the injectors is still set by the main engine ECU, taking signals from the cam and crank sensors.

a carbureted car does not have cam and crank sensors (or any other sensors for that matter), and without these sensors the ECU is blind, deaf, and helpless.

it's still "mighty" expensive! i'm not too keen on the NAIDSS kit. but the one with an ECU and which is closed-loop is interesting. but expensive, too.

for the sake of information, can you have someone check the current ignition timing of your car's engine? whenever its convienient...

i have my car periodic maintenance serviced at chevy libis earlier... gastos ng 5thousand plus for change oil, pollen filter replacements (tsk tsk grabe mahal masyado), bad trip hindi nila nagawa iyun pag check ng ignition timing... sira daw computer eck eck nila... at wala sila iyun flashing strobe light thing-a-magig... grrrrrrrrrrrr :thatsit:

so sir kita mo na ang conversion kit ng european well advance.same system yan ng na email ko sa iyo. kaya lang medyo ma la late yung pag start namin dyan kasi pa punta palang dito sa europe technician ko for training.yaw ko kasing mahilaw.well those are the new generation lpg kit .at mas mahal.i got 2 other brand to introduce pag start namin prins from holland and one from mclaren, by the way torroidal tank yung tawag sa donut and multivalve ang tawag sa autoshut valve ,filling valve at liquid floatvalve all in 1 .yes with your v6 gamit talaga yan ng 2 of 3gang solinoid/injector.,if they are euro spect you can see naka lagay R 67

There is one in Pioneer Near Shaw Boulevard You Wont Miss it has a huge sign. I suggest not to have it converted it shortens the life span of the engine and it will wear the fuel lines faster.

how do you know it shortens the lifespan of an engine?.. Given the oldest NAIADSS installed kit is less than a year old...

Sorry if OT but just want to share a way I found to save on pollen filter replacements. Did this with my Venture, not sure if it will work with other models. What do is pull them out and clean them using toothbrush and soapy water, let them dry then install. It worked. My aircon was hot before I did this, after cleaning ok na ulit.

Walang timing light? Ano klase shop yan paano sila nag tune up ng kotse?

I've been calculating it myself... I'd need to drive at least 50,000 kilometers to break even with the EFI kit, and just a little less to break even with the carb kit (considering I may not be able to tune the carburated kit for optimum mileage). This is probably a process best reserved for rental units and delivery vans, for me. I can't justify the costs, even for our newest car, because by the time I break even, the car will be 100,000 kilometers old!

Then I started, for fun, to calculate costs and savings for a variety of things, including car-buying. And you know what? You have to drive a very loooong way in a CRDi to make back the extra money you spend for one over the gas version of the vehicle.

And that's even taking resale value into account.

Anyway, if I ever get the jack to repair the 626, since it's already a loss to repair (total repairs = 25% of total value), I might as well look at converting it into an LPG car for my brother and sister to use. At least they won't take the brunt of the cost of fuel.

really??? parang sa iyo ko lang narining iyan parekoy... lahat ng search ko sa google eh kabaligtaran... hmmm... i'm very interested... please give us details and elaborate naman... maybe you have pictures and proof that may nagpa convert na sira na ang makina ngayon? dahil ayoko mangyari sa kotse iyun sinasabi mo eh... okay... thanks

or maybe your refering to the flex fuel or ethanol blended fuel E10, E20... which can deteriorate/corrode plastic and rubberized fuel line in older cars...

Like carwise said, it only makes sense for a modern small engine 1.6 or smaller, fuel efficent car if you really drive a lot. Ala taxi kung baga. But for big gas guzzlers like mine it does make sense. I get around 5km/l city driving and I need to use 95 octane so converting makes sense for me. If I use Korean system, I'll recoup my outlay in about 10,000 kms or 1 year driving. If I use the Euro system it will be a little over 2 years or 20,000+ kms.
Hopefully I can find a system that is in between the two. Newer technology but at a more reasonable price.

Kaya nila yung F150, yung demo nila ay F150. They installed a 90 liter tank sa bed. But since 80% lang ang safe capacity ng tank sa in effect 72 liters ang laman.
