2 weeks ago, I converted my 1996 carburator Nissan Vanette in Xoom. But up to now, it's still not usable. 2 out of 4 sparkplugs get destroyed. So Xoom suggested I bring the van back to my mechanic. My mechanic tested the van using gas, the sparkplugs don't get destroyed. But when he tested it using lpg, the 2 sparkplugs get destroyed. Why doesn't the sparkplugs get destroyed when using gas? If the sparkplugs get destroyed on both gas and lpg, at least we know that there's something wrong, and the mechanic will open it up. And why only the 2 sparkplugs?
Can you guys give some suggestions?
I think your auto-lpg kit is venturi-mixer and the intake is causing the last two cylinders to run a little lean which results in the damaged sparkplugs. A quickfix would be to run slightly richer to compensate for the last two cylinders from running lean.
Also check if the venturi-mixer itself is correctly sized for your engine. If it's too big, it might result in the lpg irregularly mixing with the incoming air.
A more long term fix is to change from the venturi-mixer kit to the SGI kit (running open loop mode) which will have an individual LPG injector fitted per cylinder. This will eliminate the lean running condition of the last two cylinders. This will be expensive and might be hard to do because of the cramp space of the vanette's engine bay.
suggest you look at the actual guage...the one connected to the tank...maybe your electronic guage is not calibrated properly..or maybe nag loloko yung electronic gauge mo...
happened to me also...the electronic gauge was still full tank..but the actual gauge was already 1/4 nalang...had it checked and true enough..the electronic gaage was defective and they had to replace the ECU...
GH, you are correct in recommending to fill up with the same pump during your FC observation as pumps may behave differently (based on discussions from taxi drivers!). From your experience, do you have any recommended filling stations? It might be along my way. Haven't been to Clean Fuel though because it is out of my way but I'll try it soon.
GH, am curious, how can you install an O2 for your car. (My car is an EFI w/ no O2 sensor). I've asked around (even Ford, Honda and Toyota) and they told me it is impossible since my ECU is not capable. I have a 2001 AT Civic w/o O2 sensor as well. You know any installers and how much? I am curious if I can still improve my FC. My current FC ok but any improvement is welcomed. Thanks for your help!
I just had my car converted to LPG last Saturday at GreenFuel. I noticed that they were checking each others' work and I am very satisfied with the installation: very clean and no shortcuts. They even asked me where I wanted the filler installed since I wouldn't want to put a hole in the body of the car for the filler. I stayed in their shop the whole time my car was being installed. Even Mike and Warren were very accommodating during the time that I was there. I went to Clean Fuel at Shaw for my 1st full tank right after installation and paid P760 for 32 liters of LPG. At least I can now feel that I am not robbed whenever I go for a fill up. Will update you guys when I get my fuel consumption figures.
Thanks a lot Mike and Warren. I am the red Lovelife Corolla last weekend.
Hi sir smdelphin, It would be best if you could drop by the shop again so we could check on your Vanette. We are constantly going to work to resolve this problem with your Van.
I used to fill up regularly at NAIADSS station at pioneer... but now I fill up regularly at the TOTAL station located at shaw near JRU.
It's not really which station but best to use the same as often as possible so you can get a more accurate picture of your car's FC. That or watch the tank's guage and fill to the same level each time (example 80% every time).
SGI LPG kits can read directly from O2 sensors.GH, am curious, how can you install an O2 for your car. (My car is an EFI w/ no O2 sensor). But if you are just planning to install an O2 sensor and somehow attach it to your car's stock ECU, it's not possible unless there is an existing port for you to plug in the O2 sensor to or you would install an aftermarket piggyback ECU like SPEEDLAB's UNICHIP.
Currently I only know that EROOM claims to do O2 sensor installations from when I talked to Mike Tagle months ago. Other shops like SPEEDLAB can also do the O2 sensor install but they did mention it will not be cheap because the sensors themselves cost quite a bit of money (makes me wonder how Mike Tagle of EROOM claims they only charge P2K for O2 installation).
A simpler way is to have your LPG kit & engine tuned at speedlab to run better using their test instruments. I assume you are using a venturi-mixer kit?

Just came back from EROOM in Highway54 EDSA. It was frustrating for me kasi hindi lumabas yung problem, in the 30mins na ni-test drive namin. But David Do was able to simulate the problem by turning the aircon on then off. When turned off, the idle goes down very low, then dies. He was able to do it twice. So it may not have been brakes related, but rather sa aircon. It's as if when the aircon (or compressor) turns off, idling goes down too much. Weird kasi it seems na kinukulangan ng hangin yung EROOM when that happens.
They added a hose clamp in one of the hoses connecting the aircon and the air adapter of the EROOM kit. They also tuned the actual engine idling and aircon air input to the engine. See picture below (sorry for the large image)...
For now, ok pa siya. No signs of sudden drops in RPM, or engine dying. Will observe for the rest of the week.

Hi, From Iloilo city ako, Planning to convert my 1992 civic hatch 1.2 carb to LPG pero dalawa lng available na kit dito as far as I know...
dont know the correct spelling pero Damwa korean made distributed by Pryce autogas company 18,000pesos (with 1 year warranty) and the other one is tantarini made in Itally distributed by a Taxi operator 27,000pesos (without warranty).
so what do you think guys? sa may warranty na Korean made or sa walang warranty pero itallian made?
Sabi nung iba same component lng italian at Korean yung kaiba is the Quality of each component mas high quality yung Italian made...
also is this an open loop? kasi carb yung engine ko?
ano ba difference ba nung Close at Open Loop? mdyo indi clear sakin ito...
Thanks
Hi Paolorenzo,
Good to hear that they fixed it na.
Got mine also tuned today at GreenFuel, they did check on my injectors and calibrate the ECU. So far no sign of idling drops on braking and low rpm.
Mike and Warren suggested that I should also have my clutch checked at casa, as somehow it affect the idling when pressing/releasing clutch.
So far I'm satisfied on GreenFuel's after sales support, very friendly technicians and office staff and of course on-hand supervision of the owners![]()
just got back from greenfuel, had mine re-tuned, kasi this past days nag degrade ng husto yung power, dahil pala sa ni lessen ko yung flow ng lpg para mas tipid (w/in acceptable power loss) and yung air filter ko na mumurahin na clogged up agad (napamura tuloy ako ng &#Y#*$) , i replaced it agad, tapos re-tuned, ngayon ok na ulit. will report ulit on my FC in a few days. 2 thumbs up talaga sa mga mechanics at kay Warren, very accomodating talaga.
I still value having some warranty. You can try contacting past customers for their feedback by asking the private car owners as they fill up at the nearby auto-lpg refueling station in your area. You might also find out if there is more than just two companies doing auto-lpg installation in your area.
Unfortunately these companies are unknown to we cannot give you an informed opinion on which is really better. You can also inquire from the DTI if these companies are registered and certified by them.
since your car is just a civic 1.2L carb... you don't have to bother knowing the difference between open and closed loop. What you will get on your car with be a Venturi-Mixer Open-Loop auto-lpg kit.also is this an open loop? kasi carb yung engine ko?
ano ba difference ba nung Close at Open Loop? mdyo indi clear sakin ito...
Thanks
BTW, do they offer donut tanks or just the cylinder tanks?
I would vote for the Damwa-Pryce kit. Since it has a warranty, I'm sure Pryce staff were officially trained for LPG installation. Mura pa.
Since the Tartarini kit is only being "distributed" by a taxi operator, I will doubt the training of the installers since they don't offer any warranty.
sorry double post

my vote will be on the korean brand with warranty. eventhough tartarini is a known to have good quality, if the installer is a fly-by-night one, you have no assurance that it'll be ok. what's worse is it's more expensive but doesn't come with even a single day warranty at all and that's BS. worst case scenario is that you'll have your car blown before you know it.dont know the correct spelling pero Damwa korean made distributed by Pryce autogas company 18,000pesos (with 1 year warranty) and the other one is tantarini made in Itally distributed by a Taxi operator 27,000pesos (without warranty).
