Maybe I should issue a decree that all converts should send me 10% of their gross income... like what iglesia does.

It's about time I get something back for my efforts.

Sounds like you have a dirty filter and your lpg system was adjusted to compensate.

    Gov’t warned on LPG push

By Efren L. Danao, Senior Reporter

Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri urged the government to go slow on pushing for the use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as fuel for motor vehicles.

“LPG has cleaner emissions but it is not reliable in reducing transportation cost because it is fossil-based,” he said on Sunday.

Zubiri pointed out that while LPG was cheap at first, it became more costly as prices of fossil-based fuel increased.

Is this a good reason not to go for Autogas? I dont think so. This is for the simple reason of the price difference between unleaded and LPG. Whatever happens, LPG will always be lower than unleaded. As for the difference, so far as i can remember, LPG is cheaper by 25 to 55%

Zubiri is for ethanol so it is not surprising for him to say this. However ethanol is not an efficient fuel as it takes fuel to produce ethanol as well. Moreover the cost of ethanol is nowhere as cheap as auto-lpg. So in the end it is still the call of the consumer what alternative energy they want to use.

The main point of ethanol is energy independence from crude oil. It is not a cheaper solution to gasoline, a fact that kept ethanol from wide acceptance by consumers until the recent jump in fuel prices.

    DTI News
DTI urges vehicle owners to patronize accredited Auto LPG shops
    23 June 2008
With the increasing demand for the use of automotive liquefied petroleum gas (Auto-LPG), Trade and Industry Assistant Secretary Angel L. Pelayo is encouraging vehicle owners who want to shift to Auto-LPG to patronize DTI-certified auto-LPG conversion shops.

"To ensure that your car remains safe after conversion to Auto-LPG, make sure that the conversion is done by shops accredited by the DTI's Bureau of Product Standards," Assistant Secretary Pelayo said.

To date, there are 10 Auto-LPG conversion companies in the country who have been issued PS licenses by the Department of Trade and Industry's Bureau of Product Standards (DTI-BPS), namely, Naiadss Corporation, Macro Liquid Petroleum Gas Co., Inc., Gasumi Marketing, Durasales Inc., Lovely Home Inc., Black Prince Communication Inc., Ferrotech Steel Corporation, Greengas Inc., Ambient Energy Enterprises Inc., and Thermoline LPG Conversion Works Inc.

To ensure the safety of consumers, the DOE and the Department of Trade and Industry-Bureau of Product Standards (DTI-BPS), together with other concerned agencies, have developed three sets of mandatory requirements for the use of LPG for motor vehicles. These standards specify the requirements for the material, construction, design, testing and marking of auto LPG steel containers and prescribe the rules and requirements for the design, construction, installation, operation, maintenance and fueling of LPG equipment, used either wholly or in part for the fueling of internal-combustion engines.

Companies found to be violating these mandatory requirements face fines ranging from five hundred pesos (P500.00) up to three hundred thousand pesos (P300,000.00).

"The DTI is actively pursuing the certification of more auto-LPG conversion shops to cater to the increasing demand for auto conversion," Assistant Secretary Pelayo stressed.

She also urged the public to report complaints regarding unlicensed auto-LPG conversion shops to the DTI Direct Hotline 751-3330, which is open from Monday to Saturday from 8am to 5pm. (end)

friend of mine sent me this...its a news advisory from DTI...just wanted to check..does this mean that only the 10 firms listed above are accredited by dti to do conversions? what about the others?

oo nga what about the others... Seems like mas magaling pa yung mga ibang installer kesa sa 10 PS licensed by DTI.

this is the good thing here...if something bad happens to your car because of the conversion or if the unlicensed autoLPG conversion shop have bad aftersales services...ALAM NA!

Good morning! First post, doing research on LPG conversion. Thanks to bigMike for posting on the differences of between venturi and SGI. Took some backreading to find it, but the info satisfied my tech curiosity.

Currently concluding a deal to buy my first car, a 98 Camry A/T. My friend just recently bought a Cefiro (forgot the year) and had it converted at Denso (I think). Will be checking Denso out (close to home) and Greenfuel as well (close to work). Looks like there's going to be some lag time before I actually get it converted if they're doing a lot of work, so I'll be taking the car out on its paces at 7km/L of gas (ugh!).

Any experiences with having a Camry converted, as well as advice for this noob, will be highly appreciated.

    Have a good one people!

Question.... Is the LPG system compatible to take in compressed natural gas (CNG)? Can it even go to the extreme of loading them BOTH in the same tank?

Unless I'm mistaken, LPG is also a derivative of crude oil, so we're still at the mercy of OPEC.

    Hey guys,

I had a very good deal with my uncle to swap my altis with his SUV (need a bigger car soon). Unfortunately, he doesn't need my LPG kit since he will be getting the one installed in his vios.

In this regard, I'm thinking of selling mine for a good price. 2 weeks used SGI kit. Kindly PM me nalang. I posted this here since you guys might be looking for a conversion and find sgi kits a little bit on the high side. If there are no takers, I'll just keep it and have it installed on the future car of my wife.

***I'm still also thinking if it will do me more good than harm. Considering that my uncle will give the SUV as a gift for our wedding (to straight swap with my car), mahal din ang diesel. hindi ko din naman pwede ibenta ang SUV kasi nakakahiya naman.

I also want to ask if there is a reliable LPG conversion company near the Las Pinas area? Ano ba ang pinakamalapit kasi halos lahat quezon city eh. Your help will be much appreciated...
