Auto-LPG Conversion Thread

hi ghosbuster, i've been reading ur thread since i become a member 2 weeks ago, i really find it very informative with regards to our recent problem right now in fuel, i read some from our thread that its posible to convert my 2006 ford focus to LPG by using the 40- 50 liters donut shape tank, am i correct? but the problem is, im base here in cebu, can you give me good advice on where can i have my car converted into LPG? thanks.

I'm not GH but I can see in your listed rides that you also own a Ford Escape. I recently converted my 2.3l Escape to LPG at Ambient, May 21 to be exact. So far, my savings is around 6-7 th(may 21 to june 21). I'm saying this because I think you can arrive to ROI faster with your bigger displacement ride. For installers in Cebu, probably you could ask people at gas stations selling Auto-LPG where the installers are or better still ask owners of converted cars ( Taxi or Private cars) where they had theirs fitted. You could also try and call the installers here if they know installers in Cebu. Hope this helps.

Sir GH, i got my advie converted already last april, closed loop system and i'm very satisfied sa result and syempre sa savings...i-clarify ko lang, walang ECU for LPG ang open loop system diba?o meron din parang closed loop system and SGI?and pwede din ba i convert and 1980's volswagen beetle? kasi nung nakita nung pinsan ko yung advie ko, gusto din nya ipa convert yun vannette nila pati yun volks, sa van alam ko pwede, di ko lang sya masagot dun sa volks nya (kaka restore lang kasi e)...i suggested nga na kila sharon na lang magpa convert since malapit lang sa kanila para kung papa tune-up e malapit lang din...

I have seen an expi on TV running on LPG.

I have seen a white E150 van running on EDSA with a big banner saying "This vehicle runs on clean fuel - Shell LPG".

The basic venturi-mixer has two types. The pure carb and with EFI emulator. Both are "open-loop".

Closed-loop and SGI are also different.

I think you can convert the beetle BUT you have to check if the engine has been converted to use unleaded gasoline by changing the valves & valve seats to the "hardened" type. If not, the engine will suffer from valve recession due to lack of lubrication from the fuel.

totally possible but it is not cheap... XP conversions tend to range from 50K to 90K... depending on who does the actual conversion. Pros, it will be cheaper to fuel up the XP.

Cons, auto-LPG is kinda hard to find outside metro manila so if you are out of town with the XP, you might be forced to switch back to gasoline on the trip back to the city. The LPG tank takes some space, either in the spare tire area or at the back storage area. Either way it will take up space, even if its in the spare tire area, on longer trips you will have to pack the spare with you.

tanong ko lang po kasi po may taxi kami mitshubishi lancer sedan 4 door year 96 wala po kasing maglabas nito dahil sobra daw lakas sa gasolina kaso kulang yung pera namin pampalpg maybe next month pwede na kaso nanghihinayang naman kami kung intayin pa namin yung next month para malpg sayang yung ilang araw na ibababoundary nya.kanino po kaya ako lalapit sa mga nagcoconvert ng lpg na pwede yung hulugan at ano kailangang requirments para don.kahit one month lang namin hulugan.salamat sa makakatulong.

sa green autogas kila sharon din may promo din, 1L=1point, 500pts=1 velco polo shirt yata, 10,000pts=dvdplayer yata, yung 21" TV di ko alam kung ilang points e, and mas mura ang LPG nila compared sa Petron Xtend Autogas saka macro auto LPG ba yun, mas mura sa kanila ng P0.50 or P0.70 yata...

You can use the list of auto-LPG installers. Give them a call and ask them yourself if they can help you out.

You could have opted for a donut tank and retained your trunk space. But if you don't tend to use your trunk much... I guess there isn't much lost.

Anyway, congrats on making a big step in going auto-lpg.

sa mga nakapag convert na, are there special maintenance na ginawa nyo since conversion? Some users say that, mas magiging mainit daw ang temp by using LPG, so may remedy ba dito? ! installer said na one converted to LPG, kailangan fully synthetic oil na ang gagamitin sa engine. what other maintenance ang kailangan mo gawin ngayon dahil converted ka na, unlike before. Na mention din nung installer na kailangan daw in top condition ang engine, otherwise mas magiging disadvantage ang kit, especially yung may mga oil leaks o singaw somewhere. any comments sa mga naka convert na.

hi po! i'm seriously thinking of converting to LPG because of the current gas crisis... avanza po ang kotse ko, ano po kaya ang recommended na kit? ok lang na magamit yung pinaka "trunk space" ko kasi lagi nakababa yung 3rd row & may subwoofer po sa likod.. TIA! :D
