What's a good car to replace an aging Revo?

Ok what is a good car to replace an aging Revo? My friend is thinking of replacing their Revo, 4 lang sila sa family nila 2 kids and of course mag-asawa. Pag gumamit ng driver eh di 5 na sila. Sometimes, may makikisakay pero bihira lang... Probably ang tanong is what current car (brand new) has the same versatility as a Revo? Ako unang naiisip ko either Carens, Tucson, Innova (obvious candidate), Avanza, Grand Livina? Ano kaya?

the Avanza will be the wiser choice... fuel efficient and can hold around 5 people to 7 people.
and its good for everyday driving kung yung mag-asawa lang ang gagamit papuntang work.

I see mukang ok nga Avanza in that regard. Iniisip ko din yung Carens, mas mukang maganda ang ride kaysa Avanza...

Kung M/T, ok na ang Avanza. Kasi may option for 1.3cc, tipid sa gas. My officemate says he gets 12-13kms/liter, mixed city-highway driving.

For Innova, kakatakot kasi uli yung D4D, since meron uli nag-report nung choking issue for the 2008 releases. Kung VVTi, ok na rin, slightly lower FC nga lang.

Ok na ok talaga ang Carens, pero laki na ng price difference, and over 1M na siya. Yung Livina naman is not living up to the hyped-up FC claim. Maybe another one worth considering is the Suzuki APV, if space is a plus. 1.6cc naman ang engine, so expect poorer FC.

kung hindi naman brand conscious friend mo i suggest go for carens crdi. the pull and power is superb. the ride comfort is like a sedan. maluwag pa sa loob. plus its a diesel engine.

I think he wants something fresh looking yung medyo bago pa. Kaya I didn't include the Crosswind and the Adventure in the list since they are quite old although they are just as versatile as a Revo.

How about the all-new Subaru Forester....the 2.0X is just a little above 1M. Boxer engine, seats 5, and more versatile than all those vehicles mentioned above, IMO.

Well.. for a family-oriented daily driven car which can sit 7 (kelangan ang extra seats you never know when its needed!), 3 types of vehicles may be under consideration.
Let's say budget is 900T-1.33M typical for a middle class family income bracket.

For practicality, let us eliminate the luxurious variants. Coming from a Revo, one may be unwilling to spend so much dough for a car.

1. MPVs
The Innova here is the obvious choice considering it is touted by Toyota as a the Revo-replacement. Brand appeal, new engine, good space, comfortable ride, many variants to choose from.
Avanza if you want a similar but smaller car.
Carens is nice but some have ground clearance issues with it.
Livina very new. No firsthand feedback yet. No diesel option.
Kia Carnival if you consider space as a premium.

2. 4x2 entry level SUVs
Fortuner is very popular. Good-looking, nice stance, etc. Enough said.
Everest. Pedestrian-look but has good engine capability.
Both have strong road presence (malaki!) but at the expense of fuel consumption.

3. AUVs
Seemingly outdated, lacks refinement, chuggy ride....but....very reliable, cheap to maintain, simple mechanicals, easy to repair with wide availability of parts.
The thing is, generally has no safety equipment.
Depending on the trim, Crosswind offers more space but the Adventure has a more sophisticated interior cabin.

Vans like Starex may be out of the equation because its too big to be driven daily unless somebody drives it for you.
Perhaps, another consideration is to take a pre-owned or secondhand mid-sized SUVs like the Trooper, Pajero and Montero. Just be prepared to shell more for the maintenance. Mahal ang mga parts and consumables.

As it is, if I were to live in a big metropolis where roads are paved MPVs are a good choice. Just don't be disturbed by the so-called "soccer mom" mentality.

Sa province, I like the ruggedness of the AUVs, Crosswind particularly.
Good-looking but not too inviting as the SUVs.
Good COMPROMISE vehicle...high stance and presentable naman...di ka matakot isubsob sa putik at lubak-lubak na mga daan...better fuel consumption.. 12-15 km/L... though "ancient", engine has no troubling issues...madaling ayusin...and relatively cheap to maintain. Probably that's the reason why it is selling better in these parts of the country.

But if you value "APPEAL" for less seating capacity and more willing to spend than what you ordinarily spend for AUV (Revo-like) maintenance, then the CUVs are for you. In that case, may I suggest the Kia Sportage or the Hyundai Tucson which are more practical than the Ford Escape and Nissan Xtrail fuel consumption-wise. Ang mga CUVs ay nagkakaiba lang sa ride quality which is subjective and looks which is a matter of opinion.
