Hi Everyone! Im a New Zealand resident and a balikbayan to be. I will be visiting Philippines on May and will be there for about 6 months. I need a reliable car that I can use during my brief stay and perhaps selling it again when I leave or may just give it to my brother. It will definitely be well used as I intend to drive around Luzon. Ive checked the classified ads and I tell you, cars are very expensive there. My daily ride here is a green E36 BMW 320i Coupe which I bought for just $5600 equivalent to P168K. I have posted photos of it and you may want to take a peek. Just to compare, for my budget of P300k, i will be able to buy here in NZ the following:
    1. 1996 E36 BMW 318is coupe - $6000 (P120k)
    2. 1998 E46 BMW 318i sedan - $11000 (P330k)
    3. 1995 C200 Mercedes Bens - $8000 (P240k)
    4. 1997 Subaru WRX Sedan - $7000 (P210K)
    5. 1996 Toyota MR2 Coupe - $5000 (P150K)
    6. 1996 Toyota Rav4 4 doors - $5000 (P150k)
    7. 1999 Mitsubishi Pajero 4x4 - $9000 (P270K)
    8. 1997 BMW 523i Sedan - $8000 (P240K)
    9. 2003 Nissan Primera Sedan - $8000 (P240K)

And for a little bit more:
    1. 2003 Mazda 6 2.3 sedan - $12000 (P360k)
    2. 2003 Honda Accord 2.4 Euro Sedan - $14000 (P420k)
    3. 2000 Lexus I200 Sedan - $15000 - (P450k)
    4. 2001 BMW 320i E46 steptronic - $15000 - (P450K)
    5. 2000 Volkswagen Beetle - $14000 - (P420k)
    6. 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd - $15000 - (P450K)
    7. 2000 Honda Accord Euro R - $14000 - (P420K)
    8. 2002 Volkswagen Polo Gti - $12000 - (P360k)
    9. 2000 Toyota Celica Coupe VVTiL - $13000 - (P390K)
    10. 2004 Nissan Maxima ST - $14000 - (P420k)
    11. 2002 Alfa Romeo 147 - $14000 - (P420k)
    12. 2002 Ford Falcon XR6 - $11000 - (P330K)
    13. 2001 Mercedes Benz C200k - $18000 - (P540k)
    14. 2000 Mercedes Benz S320 - $21000 - (P630K)
    15. 2002 Audi A4 Quattro - $18000 - (P540k)

For less than P1.5M, you will have in your garage the following:
    1. 2003 Mercedes Benz 240E - $35000 - (P1,050,000)
    2. 2004 BMW 525i Sedan E60 - $44000 - (P1,320,000)

    6. 2004 Mitsubishi Pajero Exceed V6 - $28000 - (P840K)
    7. 2006 BMW 320i Sedan E90 - $36000 - (P1,080,000)
    8. 2006 BMW 325i Sedan E90 - $42000- (P1,260,000)
    9. 2003 Volvo XC90 SUV - $40000 - (P1,200,000)
    5. 2003 Range Rover HSE 4.4 - $48000 - (P1,440,000)
    6. 2003 Porsche Cayenne - $50000 - (P1.5M)
    7. 2003 Lexus RX300 4x4 - $42000 - (P1,260,000)

Now, all i need is just 1 good cheap, safe and reliable car that I can use. Is my P300K be able to buy one? Thanks Heaps!!!!

You might want to check out the car classifieds available on this site.

    http://tsikot.yehey.com/classifieds/

And given the local Philippine market is dominated by japanese brands like Toyota, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Honda... it might be advisable to keep within those brands to have the best options.

As for the budget, I might suggest extending it to around P400K for a more recent model unless driving a 6 to 10 year old car is fine with you.

We just bought an '01 Toyota Corolla XE (lovelife body) for the office for P270k yesterday, it may be slightly more expensive than the current market value but the car we got was very fresh, it has only 27,000km mileage, I can attest to this as I have known the owner for a long time already. The car was used sparingly as the owner lives by himself and has 2 other cars. The only reason why he sold us the car was he needed the garage space because the all-new Altis that he ordered was ready to be delivered to him.

sir if you want a realiable car, tama si GH... jap are the choice of cars here.

if your budget is tightly on a 300k car, then ill recommend the civic vti 2000 model. its really reliable, given that it is maintained very well.

What's the best car I can buy for P300k?
