    Considering the very first Vioses were sedan versions of the old Echo and Echo Verso (aka gen1 Yaris and Fun-Cargo), which were first sold back in 1997-1998...that would make their engines 12 years old in design by now.

    Toyota basically tuned these engines to pull well from low down. The tradeoff is breathlessness at high RPM - which most people probably won't mind or even notice.

    Except for those of us who hit those high rpms on our daily commute...

    Fortunately for manufacturer warranties, yes, that's quite true. Should have Vios vs. Mazda2 written by the end of this week.
