I'll take the Vios for all of your criteria.

Pero bottom line, dapat WELL MAINTAINED yung binibili nyong kotse.

You also might want to look at the higher specced Vios models (such as the E and the G over the J).

Honda City 1.3 idsi 2007 - PROS: Fuel efficient, 60/40 folding seats, easy to maneuver. CONS: iDSI engine may 8 spark plugs - kaya mahirap ang maintenance, CVT tranny can be a problem, hideous looks (depende sa tumitingin)
Mitsu Lancer 2007 - PROS: Decent room, more power (1.6 ang base engine), features for the price. CONS: Dull looking, nothing special against the competition, may pagka malakas sa gas
Nissan Sentra 2007 - PROS: Malaking cabin, more features for the price, attainable price (you can get the 1.6). CONS: Heavy body (for the 1.3), reputation (if you are willing to overlook it), cheap looking interior
Ford Focus 2007 - PROS: Excellent driving dynamics, Magandang quality (Philippine made kasi), features for the price. CONS: Not spacious interior, tall gearing sa manual, heavy body
Toyota Vios 2007 (Robin) - PROS: Fuel efficient, easy to park, good low end torque. CONS: Centered clustered gauges, not that flexible as the City, not that exciting (depende sa tumitingin) - READ MORE ABOUT THE VIOS 2007 2003-2007 Toyota Vios used car review
Toyota Vios 2008 (Batman) - PROS: Fuel efficient, more room, good low end torque. CONS: Centered clustered gauges, suspension tends to lumulubog, common (although this could be an advantage)
Toyota Avanza 2007 - PROS: Mas malaking room, good ground clearance, seats 7 in a pinch. CONS: Underpowered 1.3 in highway excursions, cheapo materials (1.3), masikip sa third row.
Chevrolet Aveo 2007 - PROS: Zippy na hatchback version, affordable, maneuverable. CONS: Not fuel efficient na 1.5, cheap looking materials, sluggish na 1.5
Chevrolet Optra 2007 - PROS: Available wagon version, handling is good, decent room. CONS: Terrible fuel consumption, some quality quirks, parts availability

    BEST BUY?:
    - Honda City 1.5 MT
    - Toyota Vios E or G
    - Sentra GS 1.6 or GSX
    - Lancer GLX or GLS
    - Focus MT

    My .50 cents though

    hello! Memphis.Rhaines

the best options would be play in the Toyota Vios 2007 or 2008, Honda City iDSI and Ford Focus 2007, for the fuel efficiency. But it up to your personal preference, test drive mo na lang lahat,
Chevy Optra 2007 and Mitsubshi Lancer (cedia) 2007 not comes great when it comes to fuel efficiency that's what I heard though it offers good comfort and more power since they come up w/ a 1.6L engine displacement compared to 1.3's.

alright for the Vios, subok na matibay-- as popularized by taxi company e, popular as taxi fleet, kase nga reliable, part are cheaper for the subcompact sedans at mura ang maintenance, btw, toyota vios have cheaper spare parts compared to Honda and Ford, kung vios kunin mo na yun E variant, para me power features at airbag na din.

--Ford Focus 2.0 TDCi, ok rin naman to, doing 10km/L mixed driving condition, panalo to ngayo mahal pa naman ang presyo ng gas, diesel e, yun nga lang I don't have any info about the reliability of this car, since diesel medyo maalaga at maintenance focus din...

Toyota Avanza which one 1.3 or 1.5?, great as a family car, fuel consumption.. sabi nila tama/sakto lang daw,

^ I don't think you can get the TDCi for 350k. Malamang 1.6L gas yan.

Don't go with the chevy. mahirap ang parts sa labas ng casa, and fuel consumption is quite high.

Among your choices... Best buy for me, assuming that the car is for keeps, is the Sentra (1.6L variant ah!). The engine is better than the Cedia Lancer's old 4G18. Power, interior space and comfort is better than the subcompacts. Also since you're getting the 1.6L variant already, you get all the bells and whistles typical of a top of the line compact like dual airbags, 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS/EBD, etc.

If you are very particular with resale value, then I suppose the Vios is for you then.

    +1

The Sentra, since it is perceived to have a low resale value, will probably get you the most bang for your buck in terms of trimmings.

If you're a safety nut, you might want to consider that, at your budget, you can get the most safety features on the Sentra.

As for resale value, if you're getting a second hand car, I don't see it as much of an impact on the purchase.

Amongst the choices, i'd only consider the City, Sentra and Vios really. Just look and find one to be in the newest and best condition (1st owner, complete service records, etc.).

Among your preferences, a Vios or Avanza should be more like it. Honda has abandoned its iDSI engine, as they are now offering VTEC; Lancer model is older than your Dad; Sentra is a drop in the bucket; Focus, okay if TDCi,- if not, forget about it, together with the Chevs...

wag vios... masyado maliit.. lubog na yung likod prone pa sa skid.... kung ako sentra or lancer na lang... take advantage of low resale.. halos parehas lang sa maintenance yan.. yung presyo ng oil, oil filter at air filter hindi naman nagkakalayo on all brands.. like sa kia carens namin all filters including the cabin air filter, oil and air filter will only cost 1,200 pesos plus 6 liters of oil nasa 2000 pesos diesel engine pa yun kung gas engine oil filter, air filter plus 4 liters oil mga 2,500 to 3000 pesos lang yan

Mga 10k KMS / yr is average.

Ingat nalang sa tampered odometer. If there's something fishy, WALK AWAY FROM THE DEAL.

Kung gusto mo matipid sa gas, better to get the manual transmission / lower displacement engine.

Kung gusto mo malaman kung na ondoy, pa check mo sa casa (unless may kilala kang magaling na mekaniko/talyer).

Unfortunately, that doesn't apply on the N16 Sentra.

The 1.3L GX is waaaay to underpowered for its heavy .. heavy body.

You're better off with the 1.6L units (GSX, GS)

With all the choices you've mentioned I'd go for the vios. But with your budget, you'd be able to buy a 05-07 Altis, or 05 Civic? Things that you should consider too bro, more power, space and higher resale value in case you might want to replace your car sooner or later.

95hp na yung 1.3GX ah, sobrang underpowered parin pala? I think what myk384 was talking about was the poor image of Nissan in our market which resulted to the dismal resale values. I suppose the TS can consider the newest 1.6L N16 Sentra (preferably M/T) that he can find that will fit his budget. Yung Altis kasi ang mamahal... For 350k you'd be getting early to mid 2000s models only, same with the ES Civic. Nowhere will you go near a 2007 model.
