why toyota is doing this, i do not know.
Cars are getting bigger every generation. But if the external dimensions for the new one are similar or bigger than the previous then someone made a form over function decision.

The new Camry though is different. It is prettier than the previous generation. My wife’s boss drives one. Still not as pretty though as the Mazda6.
I like the new Camry's butt. Doesn't look like a Toyota.

IIRC Toyota PH released the new corporate face with the Vios first. The Camry and Toyota came much later. Nakatatak na tuloy sa utak that when I see that face I think "parang malaking Vios".

For me pinakapoging midsizer ngayon is the Camry. Looks really nice. Interior, Accord is better pero medyo awkward looks and mahal. You can always upgrade the Camry's hideous head unit

    .
the new one is longer by 10 mm, wider by 4 mm, and its roof is lower by 25 mm.
i suppose, that means, it got fatter but shorter.

I personally hate the "next generation is bigger cycle"...

Dati (90s) Corolla and smallest Toyota sa line-up nila.

Tapos lumaki sya and lumabas yung Vios...

Ngayon pati Vios malaki na... May Wigo na.

On the 3rd Gen of the Wigo, ano kaya smaller car na ilalabas ng Toyota.

    (same thing for Honda)

personally I am having a hard time reconciling the altis hybrid.

if you want outright luxury then the camry it is.
There is a 380t pesos difference between an altis 1.6v and 1.8 hybrid.Buys an awflul lot of unleaded. Its hard for me to think that total ownership cost will be lower for the hybrid than the 1.6 long or short term.

The 1.6v is not a stripper model but the only thing I think that is going the hybrid's way are a few features and potentially better performance which again is probably bettered by the camry anyway.

i think the original TS (si chief) is just enamored (enchanted?) with the thought of driving around in a hybrid car.
i do not think money is his issue.
    heh heh.

    TS!
    hybrid ka nah!
then tell us about it here.

    at any rate,
i made some very rough personal computations, using my personal mileages.
    hybrid versus regular 1.6 engine.
    fuel expense-wise,
the hybrid will save me 27,000 pesos a year.
in 5 years, it will have saved me 135,000 pesos.
    in 10 years, 270,000 pesos.
kulang pa sa initial price difference between the hybrid and the regular 1.6 .
but the thought that i am driving a hybrid... priceless?

For cars, it is safe to wade thru flood waters as deep as half the diameter of the tires. Maybe that would be a foot of water.
