if you have started driving in a manual, madali lang mag shift to AT.... you can still drive an MT but may onting learning curve... sanayan lang yan. still up to you though.

From my observation ganun rin. Mas-aware yung mga kilala ko na marunong mag-manual kaysa yung automatic lang alam. Iba kasi kung marunong ka sa manual, it requires additional motor skills. Makes you more alert and focused because the shifting process is something you can screw up.

Btw, I don't believe that you can forget driving a manual. Before 1997, my mom drove only manual. From 1997 to 2004 she exclusively drove automatic. When we got a manual Altis in 2004, parang wala lang. She never forgot. Same thing for me, 4 years na rin ako exclusively automatic, but I can still drive a manual without issue. Medyo konting sanayan lang after a few minutes because of differences in clutch depth, throttle sensitivity and engine power which differs from car to car.

This is why I prefer DCT or traditional 5 or 6 speed AT na may manual mode. Next best thing to a manual. Kung gusto mo umarangkada sa long drive no problem. Yung manual mode ng CVT iba eh, parang nasa video game ka. No mechanical feel that you actually shifted and the rubber band effect is still there. Shift in power band and delivery is not instantaneous. Parang single gear all throughout. Kahit 2.0 XV or 2.0 Altis na CVT madali lang i-overtake kung naka 1.6 ka na manual tranny or AT with manual mode. Kaya ako alam ko yung mga naka CVT dyan like the HR-V and XV masaya sila paglaruan when I'm driving a technically less powerful car kasi alam ko mabagal sila.

Despite my current preference for automatics, I hate CVTs with a passion. Sucks all the fun out of driving and makes your engine feel weaker than it is. Would've actually gotten a Forester if it didn't have a CVT. I hope DCT gets better adoption by economy brands like Toyota and Honda in the next few years.

The most advanced transmissions these days offer better fuel efficiency than a skilled driver in a manual can. Unfortunately those transmissions are expensive and only make it to developed countries like the US, where they have laws that promote lower emissions and better fuel economy and where customers are willing to pay for the convenience of an automatic. Manuals have been relegated to enthusiast-only in developed countries. Maybe I'll get an MX-5 MT in a few years for weekend drives. Sana nalang may manual pa by then.

OT 5 years back may news about sa agaw kotse gang. Pagsakay nung carnapper, nagwala at nag mumura kasi di nia alam pano idrive matic and what to do with it. Baka naghanap pa ng clutch. Tinawag nia pa at dinagukan ung driver kung bakit ganoon un car. This is not a joke. Haha

Conclusion: get matic. May chance na hindi macarnap car mo lol

OT lang - observation ko naman sa mga girl driver na marunong din sa MT, in general mas madiskarte magdrive sa daan pero kung A/T lang pa-bebe yan...
