as a rule, you have to leave at least around 50k of your budget if you are getting a second hand unit for repairs and reconditioning. since your budget is 400k, so mga nasa 300-350k lang ang pwede mo spend.
at this price, you can get a 2007-08 lancer na gls (although hindi sya maganda pormahan).
the altis is a great car..... great performance, nice looks (personal opinion - o talagang matanda na ako....hhehehe). ok ang maintenance, reasonable ang FC.
but it seems you are really fixed sa civic..... if yes, then go for it..... after all, ikaw din naman ang gagamit nyan. so personal tastes lang talaga...

How about an E36 BMW 320i? Goes for about 350T these days. There's even a pristine E34 525i selling for 400T.

^ Patayan lang sa maintenance.
Best to stick with a reliable Jap for your first car.
To TS: Kung gusto mo talaga ng Civic, may nakita akong 2007 1.8V MT, 405k lang. Bili ka nalang ng 1.8S rims (mga nasa 15k lang 'to) tapos trade in mo yung 1.8V rims mo, okay na yan.

June 6th, 2012 01:05 PM #35If you see 400+k FD's for sale online, that means there is still a sizeable chunk to be chopped off the price in the negotiation process. In the end you may be able to get an FD for just 400k or lower if you're really good in catching demerits like faded paint, higher mileage, etc. Since you are very much interested in the FD. Go get one! A 1.8S M/T would be nice.

the 2L mazda even auto is adequate unless you plan to race on the strip. for everyday driving, power is more than enough. you can easily do 160-180kph on the mzda 2R, car is very stable even on 190kph, yun nga lang malakas sa gas as compared to manual, but handling is great. that car really is fun to drive

June 6th, 2012 07:20 PM #37I think what the TS is after with a manual is the better fuel efficiency and the freedom and sheer pleasure of shifting the gears himself.
Aside from the ES and FD Civics, I'd also suggest you consider the Lynx 2.0RS. There you've got a nice 2.0L engine with a manual transmission. Resale value is lower than the Honda's too.

my suggestions would be
(sample picture only)
Honda Civic 2001 - 2004 VTi-S "DIMENSION"
or
Toyota Altis ZZ 1.6 2001 -2006
(sample picture only)
both decent, good looking, easy to dress-up, maintenance (almost quite same, but the toyota spare parts are cheaper and easy to access than Honda), fuel-efficient (VTEC or VVT-I equipped , but they say the 1.8 altis is doing more efficiently than the 1.6 variant), Power (almost the same, Civic blows at top end while Altis is on the low end punch,)
test drive mo muna, parehas, but IMO, Civic drives better than the Altis, esp. it's handling, power, comfort and driver's positioning.

June 7th, 2012 04:51 PM #40FD for 440k? May be yes for 2006 1.8v models. Pero siguro bro mataas na mileage and have it checked meticulously baka may hidden defects. kung iextend mo budget mo go for the fd na. Hehe! My first car is an fd nung 1st yr college pa ko and ok siya sa porma at performance lalo na sa hatak pag mt ang gamit mo. I just sold my fd 1.8s 07 for 500k in two weeks kasi kailangan na talaga ang cash for vehicle upgrade tsaka 2 vehicles lang kasya sa garahe. Wala ako naging problema sa dati kong fd. Yung battery lang ung napalitan ko dun. If only we had bigger garage d talaga ako papayag ipabenta yun.
I also prefer silver. hindi halata na madumi na and some imperfections like faded color and slight...
