Well, sadly, gone are the days of the P800K+ Accord and 626. Now it's barely enough for a top of the line Vios.

I think it's ok to compare two cars from different segments due to price, after all, you're trying to make the most of your hard earned cash.

IMO, based on specs and performance, I do believe you get more bang for your buck with the Civic. No matter how much the Vios may have grown, it's still a sub-compact, with the Civic being more powerful and more spacious. If you'd really want to play the fuel economy card, I think the manual 1.3L version would provide better FC.

On leather seats, yes, they're hotter than cloth seats. But I noticed that the real leather seats, not just the leatherette seatcovers, handle and disperse heat better. I still find leather interiors more classy looking. And to me, they're not high maintenance. Let me add, however, that if you park under the sun more than you park under the shade, you'd need to condition your leather seats more often. And you might be better off not getting the leather seats.

Overall, it really depends on what car will make you smile after you purchase it, while you drive it, and perhaps after you've modded it. The Civic might provide you with better value, but then if it didn't inspire you at first, you might be better off with the Vios.

for 800K++ indeed over priced for sub compact sedan... in this regard i go for the civic...as for at's fc concern i'd rather buy the city 1.3 cvt or 1.3 jazz cvt both less than 700T best deal for at's/cvt nowadays...even mt's beat by cvt on fc well this is base from one reliable reviews from one car specialist (mixed city and highway)...long term reliability/use?...sir you are buying a brand new car wether it be toyota, honda, hyundai, etc it will last you more than 10 years if you just maintained them accordingly...

to drive a car base from your choices i am proud to drive a civic over the vios...people will surely look at it the same way too...

For me, i'll go for the vios, its loaded with features compared to the civic. And as you've said, you'll be using it 95% for city driving, which sub-compact cars are well suited.

    Civic, hands down.

    - Looks way better than the Vios (at least for me), inside or outside. Except for the side mirrors. (Blech!)

    - Engine is more powerful, and according to FD owners, is surprisingly a fuel miser when it comes to consumption.

    - Bigger space.

    - And lastly, I've always hated center gauges. Looks weird. Hindi talaga ako masanay.

haha! nagulat rin ako nung nabasa ko to. 800k?!

    to RV,
list down the features of both cars... and the align those features to your personal goals and objectives on why you want to buy a car - which car would enable you to best achieve those goals.

this makes it easier to choose which one is better ;)

Besides, it is much easier to accessorize (and fun to boot) your car down the ownership road than it is to bemoan lack of space, engine power, etc.
I strongly agree with you sir. The Vios is too overpriced, very unjustified. 800k for a sub-compact with just additional leather option? Anyway, if the thread starter still goes for the vios, I will recommend that you get the 1.3 a/t variant because this is the best range (displacement) for high output on fuel economy plus ask the dealer for the "leather option" of your ride. Almost every car dealer is offering such.

i don't think there is a 1.3a/t variant. i still want to see the vios up close before i decide. btw, gas is going up again by .50 in the coming days. thats why the vios is so tempting. fuel just seems to go up all the time and hardly goes down

If gas is a problem, I just have one thing to say...

Buy a diesel. 628k, Hyundai Getz. 15-20 km/l, diesel. Or, if Japanese is the only thing you want, Toyota Innova, you can get a diesel at about 800k.

Pasensiya sa pampagulo, but it's good to know your options.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
