Well yeah I dunno how the Koreans did it. They were able to make a mobile rocket out of a smaller engine.
The SF has not have its facelifted version yet wait in 2010. A new R-engine having 197HP and 435Nm of torque but with the same 2.2L engine. Even if the competition has 800cc and 1000cc more, the 2.2L R-engine will still have more juice
In Europe, Korea and other international markets, the 2010 Santa Fe facelift will also be available with Hyundai's newly developed 2.2-liter 4-cylinder 'R' diesel engine that cranks out 197HP and 435Nm or 320.1 lbs/ft of torque.

While HP is great, I am more excited about the 435NM of torque to be frank... Para sa akin kasi mas importante yung torque (gives you good low end acceleration perfect for that 0-100km/h sprint and overtaking annoyingly slow cars, hindi hirap maskin madaming sakay, di hirap maskin mataas ang akyatan). I think good HP gives you mid-end acceleration, high revving and higher top speed which hindi naman nagagamit sa sobrang traffic...
