RE video, parang mga latino ang salita hehehe
Kung may MS ako hindi ko yun gagayahin, lakas ng lagabog ng ipinilit ng driver tumawid. Not unless life threatening ang situation

I dont know if its the AI. Hataw din ako mag-drive lalo na if the road ahead is clear of obstruction.

Siguro nalulula lang ako tumakbo ng more than 100 on those twisted roads and ung mga nag-overtook ay mga sanay na.

    +1

Napa-aray ako ng hinataw sa stone mound yung MS. I was expecting that the driver will do it slowly with the 4x4 engaged.

Do you really need that Top Speed? eh kung sa SCTEX or STAR Tollway mo lang magagamit yan then that will be very seldom unless araw araw kang dumadaan ng SCTEX. Eventhough, you know it's Dangerous to Speed above 130 kph.

Now, my point is, you don't really need that much Top Speed and SUVs / Trucks are capable naman to speed at 170 kahit na 140hp pa man or 170hp.

What you would need is immediate power delivery when you need it like overtaking or negotiating a curve which you would normally encounter when driving long distances. Yong tipong konting apak lang and Power agad.

I drove my SF to Bicol and back to Manila on January and there were instances na may nag-oovertake sa akin na 2.5 D4D Hilux (Low Ride Height), Pajero (4x2), Fortuner G, 1st Gen Everest 4x2. Meron pa ngang mga Delica and Hyundai Grace.

May mga nag-overtake din na Fortuner V and other more powerful SUVs pero ung mga minention ko lang are those which are less powerful than SF.

Hindi sa SLEX yang overtaking but on provincial roads na sa Quezon to Bicol.

You see, kahit na mas powerful pa si SF, naiiwan pa din sya ng mga nabanggit kong sasakyan. Doon ko napag isip isip na what is on Paper may not be true in real world scenario. I am not saying na baka ndi totoo ung power ni SF. Nagkataon lang na I only have SF as my car kaya don ko sya nacocompare. Kung Everest ung Car ko, then I would be replacing the SF as Everest dito sa Post ko.

I was really wondering why that 2.5 D4D Hilux managed to overtook me sa Andaya Highway na walang ka effort effort. 6 Full Sized Adults and Passengers ko non (pabalik na ng Manila). And on some curves, Hyundai Grace and Delica managed to overtook me as well. As far as I could recall, I was driving at 2,000RPM most of the time. At this RPM, SF will hit 120kph on Highways at 5th Gear na.

Pero since the road are mostly uphill and curved, this 2k RPM would be at 4th Gear and will be running at 70 to 90kph. Yan ang average speed ko.

And at that speed, those pesky less powerful SUVs and Truck kept on overtaking me.

Hindi ko pinapatamaan ung SF. As I mentioned, it is my only vehicle so don ko sya nacocompare.

Don ko naisip na around 110hp to 140hp would be fine to have average speed in Metro and Provincial Roads.

    Peace po.
sir did you use your sportsshift? we went to Baguio 2 weeks ago( 5 peeps) via Kennon Road ( 1st time to drive), i've overtaken few SUVS, vans and pickups ( fort and hilux to mention) on the way up. my friend in his new gen CRV was surprise how powerfull the SF is uphill coz he was far left behind. did enjoy that drive, parang Togue drive.

just have to know where the sweetspot is ( powerbond).

Buti hindi si Yuichi ang kasabay mo sir. hehehe. Anyway, I did the math and found out that the power-to-weight figures for all 3 vehicle types are not all that different:

    MMS SE = 77.43 bhp/ton Tor=335
    SF CRDi = 78.53 bhp/ton Tor=343
    Fort 3.0V = 83.8/ton Tor=343

Torque Figures aren't all that different either so short or long run, halos pare parehas ng potential. I conclude therefore that Yuichi was right and that you were merely not in the optimum power band/rpm.

I considered bhp more kasi as you can see, halos pare parehas ang torque figures ninyo. And while torque is good for climbs and acceleration, at the speed you were going at, basically yung 'peak' ng horsepower ang hinahanap ninyo. In other words, though they may have seemed to pass you with "ease," they were probably revving higher than you.

The good news though is that kung binagalan niyo pa ng konti, you probably would've hit the peak of your fuel-economy band.

i try it before..,,,i borrowed my uncle's 2009 fortuner..... then my friend use montero sport and my other friend used a santa fe halos mag kakasabay kmi ng arangkada pero it depends naman sa driver ako kc nauna eh.....pero mukhang mabilis naman ung montero at santa fe.....2 kms lng ung tinakabo namin..........ewan ko lng ha.... parang may turbo kc ang fortuner para my humuhuni sa engine kapag tumatakbo

I did not use Sports Mode during the trip back to Manila.
Hassle lang kasi mayat maya, mag shift ka pa.

As what Ive said, I was at 2k RPM Most of the Time and travelling 70 to 90kph and hitting 100kph sometimes.

At some instances, on straights, I was hitting 100 and then the Hi Lux managed to overtake pa. What the?
Either the driver has the guts to do it without effort or nalulula pa ako tumakbo more than 100 on provincial roads. Mahirap eh. Baka on curves at may biglang sumulpot siguradong aksidente.

There were numerous instances na may nag oovertake kahit na paakyat.
To recall, may Pajero, Ranger, and Delica Vans, Fortuner.
Siguro ndi ko lang gaano pinipiga si SF and that the other drivers are were pushing hard on their engines.

I am not encouraging overspeeding as this largely depends on the ability of the driver but the SF can easily do 200.

You can take NLEX Balintawak exit to Dian St, Makati in about 14mins *around 2am, for example.

You're right, nalulula lang po kayo siguro.

100 isn't exactly fast so marami po talaga makaka-overtake (and it's okay when they do).

One should not overtake on curves (and I terribly hate those who do). Delikado po yan masyado. You should only drive fast as far as you can see.

and the Ford Expedition winning unchallenged in the Ultra Luxury SUV class . The lone entry and winner for the Exotic SUV category was the Range Rover Sport TD V6 .

Moving on to the Crossover and Wagon segment, the 2WD division was won by the Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4 CVT variant. The 4WD division was won by Subaru Forester 2.5 XT. The Best Luxury Crossover on the other was won by the Volvo XC70 D5, beating other vehicles such as the Mazda CX-9, Dodge Journey, and Subaru Tribeca. The Best Ultra Luxury Crossover was won single handedly by the Mercedes Benz ML-Class Edition 10, proof that Mercedes Benz is still king when it comes to Luxury.

Pick-up category, it’s the Nissan Navara 4x2 M/T which won the 4x2 segment. The 4x4 category, on the other hand, was won by the Toyota Hilux G A/T.
According To CAGI, Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLS SE is the Best Executive SUV for 2008. According To Top Gear Phils, Fortuner is the winner, But the recent Autofocus People's Choice Award for Best Midsize SUV for 2008 is the Hyundai Santa Fe. This just means that award giving bodies also have different preferences & it doesnt make them the absolute authority (but relative) to say that one car is better than the other.
