Ewan ko, tax laws na yun di ako experto sa taxes. Basta mas mataas ang tax sa mga import from Japan/Korea/US/Europe kaysa sa mga SEA countries and I don't know why that is so...

Tama yata guess ko... ASEAN nations enjoy tax priviledges/ cuts / discounts, kaya yung galing Thailand mas mura ipasok sa Pinas.
Going off topic here: But if you are to compare the price of Hyundai (Korea Origin) from the CBU's from Mitsubishi (Japan Origin) for example, parang mas mura pa rin presyo ng Mitsu (Japan) kaysa sa Hyundai (Korea) di ba? Example is the Outlander compared to the Sta. Fe (after discounts).
So like a lot of people have already expressed, I can't shake the feeling Korean vehicles are now more expensive "for the money" compared to their Japanes counterparts.

well, hyundai is becoming more and more european since it's really their target market. that why they have german designers in their roster. sta. fe on the otherhand was designed to cater the US segment of SUV crazed people. just look at the safety rating for instance.
as for the montero, at the rear, you'd mistake it for a fuzion but it's really the interior and strada-ish features that defines the vehicle.
as for the fortuner, it had some makeover and shows more testosteron than its predecessor. a good move for their part but i dunno.
verdict: sta. should not be included in this comparo since it's a not based on a truck platform. montero sport still is somewhat underrated in the consumer list;fort - lot's of owners translates good quality image perhaps? though i still like the old school toyotas, i'm not sure about the present onesDamn, son! Where'd you find this?
