August 12th, 2020 12:42 PM #321Xpander is engineered in Indonesia where gasoline is cheaper than diesel. Short answer, not anytime soon. Not worth the R&D.
If Xpander is already close to Innova in price, fitting a diesel will probably match or exceed it. MMC has little room for margins since it's much smaller company lacking economies of scale.
Toyota on the other hand have the capacity with 2.4 and 2.8 GD-series engine and 6spd transmission all being used by Innova, Hilux, Fortuner, HiAce, Prado.

August 12th, 2020 01:18 PM #323malabo na nga siguro ang diesel xpander, although in india, sikat pa rin ang diesel and the ertiga has a variant.
pero there are reports nga that the next xpander will come with a hybrid version so i don't think mag effort pa sila sa diesel.

August 13th, 2020 02:19 PM #327If i remember correctly may discussion and computation on the cost difference a gas and a diesel version of the Innova and fortuner yata yun(the other members can correct me). The conclusion is that you need to travel at least an average of 20TKm to 25Tkm in a span of four to five years to offset the higher price of buying the diesel variant. But in reality if you check the sales of both variants of the same unit. which do you think people are buying more the gas or diesel variant even with the big price difference.

August 13th, 2020 06:21 PM #329based sa mga reviews ng nakaxpander, matipid if highway driving.
21-22km/L which is very good for a gas. compared to other 1.5L sedans, xa na pinakamatipid, pero mukhang tested ito pag walang passenger. haha
pag city, papalo ng 8-10 lng which is okay na din.
nakita ko timeline ng Mitsu.. so mukhang matatagalan pa if ever maglabas cla ng bagong version (hopefully diesel variant)
puro minor upgrades lng muna tayo hanggang 2023
