Price is still the biggest factor that is why base models of higher models are sometimes considered against high end models of lower models.

For the first time in my life, i'd have to choose the City over the Corolla. I never really liked the old City models, and the last Corolla I liked was the big body '98 model. But hey, this new City really knocked me out. Build quality and solid feel seems far more superior than the old City, the Civic and even the Corolla. Power of the City is is even better than the 1.6 Corolla. The 100-hp 1.3 City is only 8 hp short of Corolla's 108-hp 1.6 engine. While the 1.5 City boasts 120hp. Havent test driven both yet so sa suspension and handling nalang sila magkakatalo.
Value-wise, I'd go for the City.

January 29th, 2009 12:26 AM #34i've had both, i would naturally go for the altis. lots of space very comfortable, great engine.
I like the city esp the older generations only when i'm travelling alone and light due to its light chassis and high revving engine plus low body, it feels like a small sports car but at some cargo or passenger and it feels like a dog

January 29th, 2009 10:14 PM #36Checked out both cars again recently and the Altis is starting to grow in me. I hated the previous Altis due to its stiff steering and poor rear suspension but new Altis steering feel seems much nicer.
As with the City, after checking it a few times, I've noticed that while rear leg room is good, the seats are quite stiff and the fixed rear headrests not high enough. Plus going in and out of the car seems to take more effort compared to the Altis.
By the way, I'm just curious, I noticed that the 2.0L Altis is now in the Toyota showrooms and they are doing big discounts on the current 1.6 and 1.8 variants (up to 50k off). Sales rep said that Toyota is overhauling their entire Altis range thats why they want to clear out all inventory.
Any news what the new Altis variants will be aside from the 2.0L version?

Dual vvti na ang 2.0L Altis. The dampener is its still mated to an ancient 4-speed AT.

February 2nd, 2009 08:31 PM #40parang nde ata magka class tong dalawa. pero the new city has nice grilles, ewan ko lang sa rear end nya. if you want economy, go for the city. if you want that almost camry look without the camry tag price, go for the altis.
