July 29th, 2017 09:06 PM #304Citing the combined reports of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (Campi) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA), the country’s automotive industry experienced brisk sales after selling a total of 196,164 units from January to June, 28,684 units more than what were sold on the same period last year.
Interestingly, this first semestral sales mark even eclipsed the total vehicles sold by Campi and TMA for the whole year of 2013 (181,283 units).

Starting price too high.
Back seat too small.
None of that "Gotta have it factor" compared to something like the Swift (same engine size, same price range, bigger car).
Crossovers are killing high end hatchbacks.
Notice that Toyota's Yaris is not on the list.
The Fiesta, both hatch and sedan, doesn't sell as well as the Jazz.
It's all down to what people want. They go into the dealership wanting a small hatchback. They drive out in a new HR-V or BR-V. City buyers are different. They really, really, really want a sedan.
This is also why Fiesta sales are in the toilet. Go into the dealer to look at the Fiesta. See the EcoSport is just a tiny bit more expensive, drive out in an EcoSport.
Vios starts all the way down at the J model. 649k.
Base City is already 764k.
Vios sells because it is cheaper. Only competitor that sells at a similar price is the Almera, at 630k for the 1.2. And the Almera sells well, too. Especially considering Nissan's relatively small footprint in the market.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
The 2010 Genesis Coupe is another example of a car that did not age well.
