I own a 2005 Hyundai Matrix crdi. I bet you never even heard of it?! They were joking me only 10 units were ever sold in the Philippines. LOL.
Cost of my PMS parts and others I replaced, 300k Kms and still running strong... FYI;

4. Fuel F. (Same with 2006/07 crdi starex)

12. A/C Comp

If it doesn't share platforms and engines, then the vaunted "Toyota durability" does not necessarily apply.
Ergo: Hindi naman siya "tunay" na Toyota.

Do not base decisions on the brand, but on the product. For example, the Daewoo Racer, Espero and Prince were based on Opel designs... durability and maintenance were a nightmare. The Daewoo Matiz was a second-generation product built around a Suzuki engine... it was durable and dependable enough for the Chinese to copy it wholesale to create the Chery QQ and various other clones.
Ford: Lynx was based on Mazda architecture. Pretty easy to maintain. Focus is based on the European Focus, parts availability is an issue, despite it being newer.
This is not to say that the Wigo and Avanza are junk... but don't think they're indestructible just because of the badge.

And just because they're Toyota, doesn't mean parts are everywhere. And vice versa, just because something is not from a major brand, doesn't mean parts are hard to find.
Then there's platform and engine sharing come in.
If you realize, for example, that the Volvo C30 2.0 uses the exact same suspension mounts, engine, transmission and computer box as the Ford Focus, then you're not limited to looking for parts at European specialists.
I'm pretty sure you can get a Tein suspension for the Mazda3 to fit the C30/S40 platform. It fits on the Focus with very minor modification.

I buy minor parts for my Lynx from Kia/Mazda suppliers, since many of them are the same.

I understand na hindi "Toyota" and Wigo and Avanza, therefore concluding na Daihatsu talaga sila (but they're under Toyota na) and rebadged it to a Toyota since wala namang presence ang Daihatsu dito sa atin. But I wonder, may issue ba sa ibang bansa (outside the Asian continent that sells Avanza) if the said vehicle is not really a Toyota?
Yung sa case ng Mercedes-Benz MB100 and MB140, are they rebadged as well? Ang alam ko is, originally SsyangYong Istana siya.

I personally don't care (having owned several badge-engineered cars already).
But some people might.
Like I said: Buying decision should be based on the car itself, not the brand.
For me, the Avanza/Wigo aren't quite as good as the Innova/Vios.
That said, they're much, much cheaper, and there are few major problems with them, anyway, so it's not so dangerous to put down money on them.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I've had the Avanza, yes it is not as durable as the Innova but as Niky pointed out, they are much cheaper also. So value for money, it is still a win for consumers that is why wigo is such a seller even though the Mirage is way better overall. Nadala talaga ng Toyota badge ang wigo.
Also take into account that not everyone is into the "high resale value" thing. Some of us buy...
wigo versus g4
