Yes the Fit is cheaper than the local Jazz. It also doesn't have the CVT problems plaguing the 1st gen Jazz's and City's since it uses a traditional automatic transmission. And also, most of them have lots of added features. BUT, if you're hell bent on getting one make sure its for keeps, and you're very, very sure of its conversion process or oversaw it yourself. Otherwise, get a local Jazz.

CVT stands for continuous variable transmission, which is a kind of automatic transmission. There is a thread about the Jazz's problems already but since you asked... The 1st gen Jazz has problems with its transmission which isn't very sturdy, breaking down after just a few years of service.

CVT is the paddle-shifter a/t available on the local jazz.

    Pros and cons:

    Local Jazz:

    (+) no conversion problems
(+) pinoys are more vain with their cars (as far as looks and cleanliness is concerned)
(+) the first generation jazz belongs to the glorious days of honda

    (-) cvt issues
(-) it might have been raced which means that the engine could be abused

    Imported surplus Fit

(+) has a thicker body because of the snow in japan or us
(+) cheaper than a local jazz

(-) conversion issues (a complete fool-proof conversion costs as much as a brand new car)
(-) some parts may be incompatible with the local jazz, which might be an ass-kicker in the future
(-) medyo balasubas gumamit ng oto ang mga taga-ibang bansa.

Best? Get a local Honda Jazz 1.5 MT.

Unfortunately, they're fricking rare and command a cost premium.

But more practical than getting a questionable local CVT or a JDM AT (or worse, an AT AWD) Fit for which local parts for the transmission are not available, you should get a local Jazz 1.3 MT, as that is as close as you can get to a perfect secondhand car.

Unless you can find the 1.5 MT, of course.

I was able to drive a FIT couple of months ago, n it didnt have a stable drive. It was most likely to the wheel alignment. I think FIT is a great option if you're kinda strap for cash but if u can afford the premium to get (and find) a Jazz 1.5 or 1.3 MT then go for it.
The converted FITs really have a couple of things you need to fix or tweak abit due to the conversion.

Two of my barkadas own a FIT. and they say dehado ung drive.

But hey! you can set it up which is the fun expensive part! haha

Anyways, FIT costs around 250k - 380k here in Cebu. How much dyan?

The problem with properly converting a Fit is you need a surplus Jazz steering rack to make it work properly. The problem is, the only surplus Jazz/City steering racks are the ones that are borked from being in Ondoy. The Jazz uses an electric power assist motor, and that's a sealed unit that can't be repaired, unlike hydraulic systems... so yes, a converted RHD will drive like **** in comparison to a local unit.

But bang-for-the-buck? Bang for the buck is an older compact car or even an 00' Honda City, which uses a standard hydraulic steering system and many tried-and-tested mechanical parts with available spares. It'is relatively nice to drive, very economical and also easy to dress up.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
