+1 on that... Mazda6's rear seat may not be small, per se, but compared to the competition, it's not impressive.
Subaru Legacy? AWD and 0-100 km/h in 14 seconds... no thanks.
RE: Forester: sure it's soft, but it makes a nice highway blaster. I do think the Outback is much nicer, but it's $$$$.
Galant? It's a Camry/Teana with anonymous looks.

If the poster can stretch the budget a little bit, they can get a Volvo S60.
My uncle was able to haggle with Viking Cars and he got one at 2M.

I'll recommend the Camry. I own a Camry, the 3.5 Q varaint and it drives really good.
