Di naman garbage ang Mazdas. A lot of the boxy Familias are still running as taxis, while the later Familias are decent cars (aside from the fuel consumption thing), and, in MT, are about as good as Lancers or Sentras of that era, sans a fender rust issue, or two (common on early 90's cars due to the shape of the rear fender).

The problem with Mazda in the 90's was that dealership and parts support were very poor, thus making maintenance a nightmare. It isn't that way, anymore. You can buy Mazda parts from many places in Banaue, and Kia Pasay, under Columbia, provides casa-level support for Mazda owners.

That's a little unfair to Mazdas. In general, they react more easily to bumps and cambers than other cars because of the steering. Bump steer may indicate sensitivity of steering rather than any actual problem.

The rest, though... is true. An AT car shouldn't shudder if you gas it to about 1500-2000 rpm against the brake (torque converter lockup should only happen over 2500-3000 rpm)... also check if it gets unnaturally hot in traffic.

I-restore mo for about 150,000 pesos... kalokohan, di ba? Pero puwede mong i-carshow, at makita ng collector, or ilagay mo sa E-Bay at makikita ng mga taga-US o UK. Ang likely na selling price mo, maybe 350,000 - 500,000 pesos. Not bad, di ba?

Good deal?

Gets? Kung ayaw pumayag ng may-ari... eh di... forget it...

Mas maganda lahat ng transmission alam mo. What if in the future na you decided to buy a car using the Tiptronic technology. Or ung StepTronic ng Porsche (don't know how it works).

2years ago, i happen to drive a 1995 Mazda 626 AT, ironically sir, it consumes about 6-7km/l which is just average in the era where Variable Valve Timing engines are not yet in the boom. i happen to just have a simple 2.0liter EFI engine. i didnt think that it was a junk. also, my matic had this strong shift shock going from 1st to second gear but i think its normal Mazda flaw back then. but bias aside, the tranny never gave me any problems. downshifts fast and i love the HOLD feature of 90s Mazda ATs.

dunno how crappy is the 323 Familia's tranny is compared to the 626 AT though.

Mazdas r good cars pa din naman lalo na new ones, I have a friend hu owns a semi tuned mazda familia na lagi akong kinakarera ok pa din naman, paleng nga lang steering wheel, we've gone to many goodyear servitek shops, naaayos pro after 5 months.. paleng nanaman. Pro if u want to be sure of the quality lalo na 90s pa yan, try looking into the "big 3" jap automaker brands- toyota, nissan , honda.. (rollas, sen, civic). Mitsu lancer also quality wise hanep.
